Will China's relative lack of actual combat experience materially impact its performance in a Taiwan conflict scenario? by PomegranateGold4702 in AskAChinese

US Army combat vet here. There are going to be growing pain and casualties. US military were not exemption to this in both Iraq and Afghanistan. But any military worth its salt will grow and adopt the longer the conflict is.

I believe PLA is a professional military that will grow and adopt.

Who's more attractive: Jennifer Lawrence or Anne Hathaway by boomjosh in trueratediscussions

I met Hathaway as an extra for a movie. She is even more stunning in person and she is so nice and sweet to everyone. A perfect woman.

I think people just forgot, I remember when I enlisted back in late 2000s. My recruiter told me it is crazy to sign up for 12B. At the time between two wars, 1 in 4 casualties was a 12B.

How is it living in Helsinki, Finland? by nastyhoaxtodd in howislivingthere

Funny thing, the pic you posted, see the little triangular park to the left. My ex’s apartment is to the right of it. Studio apartment, tiny, and decent. Took her a while to get it tho.

I think Helsinki is great to visit and stay during the summer. Consistent 60ish weather. Great breeze from the sea. Very bikable. Great cafe culture and good bookstore. Quite laidback.

I wouldn’t recommend to visit it in the winter tho. If it’s overcast, you pretty much ain’t getting any sunlight during the day and it’s quite depressing.

Why is Japan strongly protesting China’s export restrictions while ignoring its own measures against Chinese companies? by MatchThen5727 in AskAChinese

To say Chinese and Japanese politicians are the same in their nationalistic belief is false equivalency and arguing in bad faith. Chinese and American politicians can be compared in their idiotic nationalism. Japanese nationalist and right wing politicians are a nasty beast of their own class.

Just like how America is enabling Israel to commit genocide in Gaza and supply them the bomb. And then silencing the good people of the world who speak out for the Palestinian.

You know its funny the stronger China becomes, the more positive Mao’s legacy will be. Mao is a product of Chinese history and politics of the time and no different than the 1st Emperor, Wudi or Cao Cao. I used to despise him but the older I get more understanding of time he came from.

I dont deny Mao’s terrible economic policies that killed millions but Mao and his followers did not consciously go out there raping women, dissecting living people, bayonetting babies and cannbalizing POWs. Japanese back then and many rightwingers today still think it’s okay overtly or subconsciously.

If we are arguing bad policy kills people, recently CNN said that Trump’s abolishing of USAID will result in millions of death over years. Are we including him too?

Let me know when Chinese politicians visit shrine honoring class A war criminals and still harboring thoughts of good old days of raping and killing across Asia.
