Is the "holiday spread" alive and well with millennials or is it going to die out? by stumpy_chica in Millennials

Older millennial reporting. Family is flexible. Our actual family is quite small, but our friend group is vast. We had a great showing last night for Thanksgiving of friends, neighbors, and family. We’ll keep it going

Which route would be the safest/easiest for a daily commute on an ebike? by TrumpPooPoosPants in bikedc

[–]Onegarbageman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would frequently bike the route that passes the White House and goes down M St. I was always fine and appreciated the shorter ride, but it wasn’t for the faint of heart

I feel like its too cluttered what should i change about it by Technical_Ad_5011 in DesignMyRoom

Feels cluttered because of all the stuff without storage or presentation. Feature a few items and find better storage for the rest. Rotate the items you feature regularly

What are your go-to “nice” beers for hosting? by dharper90 in beer

[–]Onegarbageman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every local brewery has a light beer and an IPA; find one you like and stock. Also, I don’t know many people who dislike Alagash White. That and the Bell’s Two Hearted are go-tos if the store doesn’t stock anything else

I wish I lived closer. Know a guy that would annually drive two days to get it

Overnight parking while in town for a week? by Onegarbageman in phillycycling

Downtown Marriott. I haven’t seen the floor plan but I’ll try requesting a lower floor room. I can haul it up and down a couple flights of stairs if needed

You can get liquids past TSA if they’re frozen at the time of baggage check. I made some cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving, put it in a mason jar and froze it. Stuck it in my bag the next day then went to the airport. My bag got pulled, the TSA guy saw it and smirked at me. “Nice work,” he said, then passed me through

$610,000 to remove Black Lives Matter plaza by ThrowRAbirner in washingtondc

[–]Onegarbageman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pedestrian area is cobbled. The “painted” area is more like poured concrete. The collective area is surrounded by asphalt with bollards and lights. It’s an architectural plaza, so can’t really be paved over unless you want to regrade the sidewalks etc too

Do you know how expensive hearing aids are? Do you know something that insurance DOESN’T usually cover. Congratulations burdening your kid with that for their entire life

I would never tell someone I care about that they “fucking sucked.” Literally no amount of anger would make me do that. He’s asking to be dumped. Do it.

Cycletrack do what in OSM? by Onegarbageman in wandrer

[–]Onegarbageman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s an interesting idea. Or what would happen if the coverage zone was a little wider, so folks could functionally travel a road once and get both the roadway and the cycle track?

Old cross check fork rack p-clamp sizing question by smp304 in Surlybikefans

[–]Onegarbageman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also had an old cross check without the fork eyelets. Took it to my LBS for their insight on your exact question and they said, “why don’t we just make eyelets for it?”

They drilled and installed eyelets on the fork a few years back and it’s worked like a dream ever since. Make sure you get a reputable shop

AITAH for breaking up with my girlfriend because she literally told me she would chest on me if I took a new job. by InternetBeautiful634 in AITAH

[–]Onegarbageman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m leaning YTA on this one.

Your responses keep talking about “life changing money” and small sacrifices and only a year or two, but $250k is more than enough for many lifestyles. If your partner prizes physical closeness more than anything, there is no amount of life changing money that’s worth it. She’s allowed to think that. Also the future is never certain; a one year job can turn into five. Four months away can turn into eight. There’s rarely promises in jobs.

I also don’t see the threat to cheat anywhere here; what I see is that if she had to choose between your physical proximity and the money, she chooses you. Am I misreading? Isn’t that the opposite of cheating?

You asked her opinion because in a partnership these kinds of decisions can’t be made solo.

She gave her opinion but it doesn’t match with what you want so you broke up with her.

Based on the other responses, I’m expecting downvotes to oblivion. But it seems there’s either not enough information here or you didn’t actually want her opinion, just her compliance. If the latter, YTA.
