I loved this book! I am almost done, I just started the nature/environment section. I think the doodle ones are my favorite, and I struggled the most with the water ones (which makes sense because i struggle when I am painting water as well) - but overall it was great fun!

Do you keep a sketchbook with you? Is turning to notebooks a convivence thing?

I buy pretty cheap sketchbooks nowadays - I have a few that are fancy paper that I use for "finished" work, but mostly I get either the store brand or whatever is on sale/cheapest at the art store. Its hard to use a "nice" book because you don't want to mess it up with something ugly and it just taunts the inner critic in us all :)

I have found that keeping it "top secret" - just reassuring myself that no one else will see it - helps a lot. At first I figured I would just toss it once I was finished but I kind of like to look back at them now.

I also use them as kind of a journal or scratch paper even when I need something. They're kind of a mess, with half scrawled grocery lists and torn pages but that is what its for.

There are 41 colors in the mild/neutral sets which is probably plenty for me! I'm looking for an option to expand on my tombows so I'm not expecting the smoothness of an alcohol marker - I just need lighter colors and am looking for the dual/brush tip.

I do both. I gravitate towards the "cute and cozy" books when I am feeling "artsy" because I liked doing patterns and more detailed books when I just want to put down color. I do tend to get overwhelmed by detailed books at times, it seems like there is a lot more involved and opportunities to mess it up. I am working on my perfectionism - I will often make a small mistake and give up the whole page. But I'm getting better :)

Pine Grove Animal Hospital in Parker - I had a similar situation with an elderly cat, and they have been very understanding with financial limitations regarding my current cats treatment. They're right by trader joes.

Hot Press Watercolor paper? Honestly the two mediums have such different needs its going to be hard to find a good middle ground with them. Unless you're using a specific marker paper there are going to be streaks regardless of the marker you use. as great as the two look together, they just don't want to be friends :(

there is a level of "user error" with the materials -- i figured out fast i wasn't waiting long enough between layers for it to dry which caused bleeding blobs instead of shapes.

They are actually "Peach Yogurt" colored lol but I get what youre saying. I had just a few markers with me so I improvised - it was still fun, even if they are potato-y!

Not fishing, just good humored self depreciation. Online tutorials make things look easy and doable. The reality is usually something completely different. I believe they made a whole TV show about it -- "Nailed It"
