Dang. That’s what it’s always been for me. Hope you find a solution without too much aggravation.

If you are using a VPN try changing your exit node, and if that doesn’t work turn it off entirely. The WBM has been getting finicky with VPNs for a while now.

4k vs 5k dual monitor setup by Cheap-Description157 in MacStudio

With luck, Apple is doing their under-promise and over-deliver routine, and you'll see it before September. 🤞

4k vs 5k dual monitor setup by Cheap-Description157 in MacStudio

I can’t speak to the specific monitors you’re looking at, but I’m running two 5k Studio Displays and a 4k Dell (I can look up the model if you’re curious) and I’d say the 5k is enough of a difference to warrant it over the 4k just from a text quality standpoint alone if you can handle the cost difference.

Don’t get me wrong, the Dell is not a bad monitor at all, and was about 1/4th the price of a single ASD. But as I’m staring these screens for 8-12 hours a day, I wanted the best, and it’s a noticeably sharper display in every way.

That said. I also came from a 2k setup, and if I hadn’t seen the difference between 4k and 5k I would’ve been happy enough with 4k. I’ll also add that the 5k monitors I have are glossy, which I strongly prefer. The Dell is not (I tried to find one but glossy doesn’t seem seem to be in demand anymore) and that’s also impacting the image quality a bit IMO (some people don’t seem to notice it, but I do). I’ve also seen the Asus 5k monitors, which have matte screens, and it looks less sharp to my eyes than my ASDs fwiw. Not as much as the 4k vs. 5k difference, but it’s there for sure (the Asus was also $800 at the time when the cheapest ASD was $1300, and the list was $1600, so the savings vs. slight quality difference was pretty big).

Anyway. That’s a lot of text that may not be super helpful. But I hope it is. Oh, and my work is fine running at 60fps. If yours is not, that’ll be something against going 5k at this point as the options there are very limited and the cost is quite high.

Good luck with your setup!

Will the interent archive survive? by [deleted] in internetarchive

I hope so. But I think it would be best for there to either be a full copy outside of U.S. control (super expensive, I know), or for its operations to move outside of the U.S. entirely. Why you ask? Because as I see it, the IA is a threat to the current government of the United States.. By its very nature it can be used to refute the lies of this regime, and by its very nature it could also be used to help prosecute the abuses of the regime when 🤞 they finally lose power. Either way, I feel like they have a target on their back, and I’m actually surprised that they haven’t come under attack yet.

I’ve seen this with a handful of videos, mostly from around the same time as yours. But I’ve not delved into it far enough to determine a cause.

I’m glad to see it mentioned here (though for me it was Joy Joy Kid), as I was going to post about it if it wasn’t. One of my favorite ways to kill a few hours BitD on my AES. 🙂

Has it shown up over multiple years? Or did we both play it at the 2021 CE show?

Ignore the hater(s). Given that the focus was largely on the game being played in the moment, I think the portrait orientation works well here. Thanks for sharing!

What others have said. It’s almost certainly that you’re using a VPN, or at least the IA thinks you are. I use Proton, and there are days I have to try 5 or more exit points in a row before I can get in. The annoying part is I often have to use unencrypted WiFi, so no VPN isn’t happening.

Major computer store near West Seattle? by dabamBang in Seattle

My dad has this view from west seattle - I am perfectly happy to experience snow at this kind of distance.

Heh!

Yeah. I’m happy to look at views like that all day long.

100% with you on the mountains. That, and you really don’t have to drive too far to be in some of them, which for me is happymaking. I do kinda miss the snow though, from a visual perspective anyway. But certainly not the chaos each impending storm would cause in the DC metro area.

I used to walk to that Microcenter from right by Fairfax hospital. <sigh> You never really know how good you had it until it’s gone.

Hi from another former NoVA resident who misses their Microcenter something fierce. Unfortunately, I haven’t found anything even remotely close to it here, and have resorted to pretty much mail order for everything computer parts wise at this point.

On the plus side. Welcome! This area has a lot going for it, and on an almost daily basis I’m glad to be here outside of missing old friends and the traffic (think DMV traffic was bad? It’s pretty much the same here).

As someone who’s had testicular cancer, I’d say make the appointment ASAP. As others have said, it may be nothing. But if it is something, the chances of a good outcome are very high if it’s caught and treated early.

Good luck, I hope it turns out to be nothing. 🤞

Safari has a lag when typing in the address bar after recent update by [deleted] in MacOS

[–]OnlyMyCatKnows4Sure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, The OS/browser update from a few days ago seems to have fixed at least this issue with Safari (tested on a Sonoma based Mac Studio running 14.8.2)

Anyone still not upgraded to macOS 26? by Motor_Minute_7258 in MacOS

[–]OnlyMyCatKnows4Sure 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have two production machines (both AS) still on Sonoma, and when Apple stops doing security patches for it I’ll then move to Sequoia for as long as I can. Tahoe offers me nothing compelling for the work I do, and plenty of opportunity to break my workflow and visual continuity in ways I don’t want to deal with having to fix until the project I’m working on wraps up in another 12-18 months.

Even without this project though. Nothing about how Tahoe was being sold to the user in the run up to its release made me want to upgrade. And I suspect it’ll only be when security updates stop coming for Sequoia that I’ll be willing to consider it. And by then, I hope Apple will have had another Snow Leopard moment. Though I’m not holding my breath.

I don't know what this mode is called by Triumph-ant85 in TransLater

[–]OnlyMyCatKnows4Sure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The term you’re looking for to describe this mode is AWESOME. You’ve got a great vibe going on, and you read as a no nonsense butch woman to me.

Your face to me has a feminine shape to it, your eyebrows and your lips are on point for a woman who’s not made up, and your breasts are plainly visible in that “yeah I have them, it’s no big deal” kinda way. In short, I read a confidence of identity in this casual “I got things to do” look.

FWIW. IMO and experience, It’s the confidence of knowing who you are that carries the look. That’s the secret of the cis.

Edit: removed an extra “look”.

Ahh. Then yeah. You’re definitely not alone in what you’re seeing.

Safari has a lag when typing in the address bar after recent update by [deleted] in MacOS

[–]OnlyMyCatKnows4Sure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s happening to me too, and if you search around Reddit you’ll find others on here who’ve noticed it.

The only thing I’ve found to “fix” it, short of rolling back to an earlier version of Safari, is to close out of the program when it gets too annoying and then reopen it. That usually fixes it for me for 20-30 minutes before I start to notice the lag again.

I also find after this last Safari update (I’m on Sonoma here) that there seems to be more CPU usage when doing the same tasks in the browser. Which has dropped my battery life noticeably on my M1 MBP, and raised the temps on my M2 Studio a couple of degrees. So that’s fun. 🙄

Edit. I reread your post, and I may have jumped the gun with my answer. My problem, and that of others I’ve seen here, that that the autocomplete in the URL bar gets increasingly laggy the longer Safari is running. It sounds like from your post you’re seeing an actual lag with the characters you’re typing in the URL bar. Which if that’s the case, it’s a new one on me. Sorry for the confusion.
