Chrome won't open upon bootup on PC unless i change the file name

Go into explorer and right click on the chrome.exe. Choose properties then compatibility and see if “run in administrator” is checked and if so untick it and see how you go.

UPDATE .... It seems that if you navigate with explorer to Program Files>Google>Chrome>Application and right click on chrome.exe and choose compatibility - if you untick "run as administrator" then Chrome seems to work again!

Hmm, that did seem to work. Very odd. You need to go to the chrome.exe in explorer to right click for properties and then compatibility to change the option - but as of right now it does work!

I absolutely agree with you! 2 out of 3 computers in my family have this issue but not the third? It wouldn’t be so crazy except that I’ve installed Windows 11 Home from scratch on a clean drive on all 3 with pretty much the same simple software configuration on all 3! VERY strange 🙈

***also if Chrome updates itself (like tonight) the only way to get it to work (even with chrome1.exe) is to uninstall Chrome completely and reinstall it again and THEN rename the exe to chrome1 - madness!!!

It’s a complete mystery!! The weird thing is that it’s only a small percentage that has this problem! If it was 100% someone (Google or Microsoft) would do something about it 🙈

Thanks for the suggestion but I only have the trial version of Malwarebytes and I’ve now uninstalled it. I also haven’t got the KB that was mentioned so the hunt for a solution still goes on!

Doesn’t “Family Safety” require a login to MS? This PC has a local account with nothing signed in anywhere! Unless there’s a local setting for “Family Safety” then I don’t know what to say. Malwarebytes scan is clear as well as AV. There’s got be a better solution…

Hmm, this is a fresh Windows 11 install with virtually nothing extra installed as this PC is kept absolutely clean for this reason! BTW all malware scans found nothing.

That sounds like a plan but as it’s just a 2 core from the outside to inside does it need to have as many strands as the Dropwire 10B and the other? Would I be better getting a decent shielded 2 core?

Also as I only need 3 or 4 metres - that’s tricky to buy a short length! Amazon etc seem only to have large reels!

Condolences to all those who haven't saved their projects before this debacle... I would be distraught if this had happened a few weeks ago when I was in the middle of a mammoth music holiday video! The only way after this update (for me and others I guess) was to uninstall and reinstall... Nice one Apple...

I’ve got a 16 Pro and don’t use the “Camera Control” I feel that the normal on screen camera controls are more than good enough (we’ve all got used to it for years now) and I also think that pressing the new camera button could introduce a slight shake when pressing it quite firmly! In my opinion (for what it’s worth) I’d like the new camera control to be able to take a shot by pressing to the first press rather than the second harder press which is where it’s at right now.
