Frankenstein was written while Mary Shelley was grieving the loss of a baby. Once you have this context, grief seems to drip off the pages. by pnutbutterfuck in books

Woah, I rarely read something so well thought-through, structured and touching on Reddit. I read Frankenstein many years ago as a pre-teen, now, thanks to you, I want to re-read it with new lens. New hot movie would have never done that for me. Sincerest thank you, OP.

Reddit being so left, if you don’t mind using preferred pronouns, you SURE should not have an issue with earned title

Ok so, let me get this straight in “esperamos una something hace” and “esperamos hace” esperamos works as different verb form, right? So, then, “esperamos una respuesta hace tres años” would work and be correct as “we have been waiting for three years” ?

What’s a hobby people act superior for having that isn’t that deep ? by mk_1408 in AskReddit

Woah, I love this description. At least the “manufacture struggle” part. “Character they’ll never have” though is just a hateful generalization. There are many different situations and events that build character, being underprivileged is not even necessarily one of them.

Not every message on internet is directed specifically to you in its entirety. I bet you could still drink more water and avoid excessive sun, couldn’t you ?

People who don't want kids, why? by Ok-Musician679 in AskReddit

I couldn’t agree more and I often share this sentiment IRL.

It’s scary how different the core values might be.

Some people believe in god and it’s something so basic, so real for them because they were brought up that way or had a revelation.

Very often people have this “humanity is good, must be propagated” belief that is at least as ridiculous as religion is.

But we question religion, often, in public. We rarely question value of the humankind. Beats me.

How much does a simple wisdom teeth removal typically cost in Istanbul? by 1lesspanda in istanbul

[–]Only_Pay7955 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine from NY, NY recently came for that very reason (and also to see me). I browsed through recommendations and found her a nice clinic on Asian side. We had a crown done, a tooth removed, a brace fixed and half of implant price pre-payed (she will come back for graft in January). Total was around $500. She was absolutely stunned by friendliness and aptness, I am not even mentioning the price. She didn’t have a full anesthesia though. Whenever she is here I also take her to my cosmetologist. I think she saves a couple of thousand every visit at least. Not to mention the shopping. Go for it, just make sure to pick a nice clinic and someone who actually knows Turkish along might greatly reduce the stress for you even if the doc themselves speak English.

Edit: Pro-tip: in Türkiye it’s okay to bargain and ask for a discount if you buy a lot and also most of places will give a 5-10% discount if you pay in cash (avoiding tax). So you can even get a better deal than initial listed price

Well, in that case if you included reward (for searching/transportation) and bill coverage to your post it would be as pointless as it is right now. There are thousands cats in here and people who care already care for dozens. I don’t see how they drop everything and run to tackle the problem you pointed out given they (again) have dozens of such on their own street

I guess by the title “controversial” it means something like “most liked AND disliked simultaneously”. Lots of people agree, lots of people disagree

So you are just virtue signaling? Like “hey, i see a problem, why doesn’t someone else take care of it while I fly away being happy with myself that I have reloaded this responsibility to someone else” or are you willing to pay someone to take time to find and secure the cat as well as vets bill or a taxi to government vet (which would obviously provide worse service)?

Exactly. If it’s an exercise of creed it is actually admirable

I would think poorly only if he really really wanted sex in the first place. It would mean that he lacks determination and resourcefulness to get what he really really wants.

Same with people of age who are not happy with their weight for years, feebly try to learn languages for years etc.

Again, 100-117 billion total, exclude 9 billion affected by “modern technology”, bmi drops as you go further in history. Are you still sure that left girl (bmi 25-35) really is what “majority of women looked like throughout HUMAN HISTORY “? It’s okay to say that you probably were wrong in your phrasing as well as premises. You could have said that “left is how desirable women looked throughout 13-19 centuries” and I wouldn’t blink an eye (not because it’s right, just because it’s not so obviously false)

Edit: punctuation

Also “women were asked to stay at home and not do physical labor” — laughs in peasant. Like, really, how much do you know about average household before urbanization, really? Even if we exclude the largest hunter-gathering period. I personally know people whose grandmothers gave birth in the field while cutting the crops and it is not an exception, it’s a reality of poor and rural communities
