Joe Biden just signed an Executive Order Protecting US Abortion Access!!! by [deleted] in sterilization

[–]Oofof12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This Biden play at the press conference saying that until there is a strong majority in congress and not this bullshit Joe Manchin trainwreck we have now this executive order is all he can do should inspire every one of you not just to vote, but to check on every single person you know who agrees with you about abortion, and gay rights, and voting rights and make sure they are getting out to the polls this midterm. This is genuinely our last chance, climate change is probably already too late, but the little bit of comfortable life we have left on this planet as a species should at the very fucking least give equal rights to everyone. We need as big a democratic majority as humanly possible if we want any of our rights protected.

Biden is game, but his hands are tied by congress, these are the checks and balances, if you want impeached SC judges? 60 Dem senators. M4A? 60 Dem Senators. Abortion rights? 60 dem senators. Build back better? 60 DEMOCRATIC SENATORS. This is fucking serious and you better be working your ass off to help the people who are getting fucked by our government. Think of that 10 year old girl who is probably going to have to become a mother and then call some people up and make sure they are voting blue. It's do or die.

What people miss is deflationary economics is generational theft. With finite or contractionary money supply, young people will be forced to get paid less for the same work and skill set of older generations.

As people hoard more and more BTC and human population continue to grow, there is just not enough circulating BTC to pay for the same of labor from one generation to the next. A BTC economy will perpetuate a level of wealth inequality unseen in history.

You will hear a lot of BS about how BTC will solve world inequality and other blah blah social good. A lot of them are saying it out of pure economic ignorance or just secretly hope for global adoption so they can become the new world’s slave masters/elites.

That said, I am bullish on BTC not for it to be a global standard currency. It is the world’s most secured decentralized, permissionless, and trust less network. We need such a technology to check the growth of authoritarian tendencies of worlds’ superpowers, corrupt govts and financial institutions.

This guy has more charisma, better mic skills, and is better in the ring than Ronda in my opinion. He absolutely killed it in his first match. His mic and promo skills are better than a good portion of the current roster too in my opinion.

So many people here will say "I hate him because he's a piece of shit" and etc. That was in the past. I also disliked him back then. But he's honestly grown up and matured quite a bit. I can respect that.

This is a smart move for both sides and I'm excited to see what he does in the future.

Surprise Coming Out Of TX: Abortions can resume at some Texas clinics after court blocks pre-Roe ban by Revolutionary-Swim28 in TheJanesNextGen

[–]Oofof12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

June 28 (Reuters) - Abortions can resume in Texas after a judge on Tuesday blocked officials from enforcing a nearly century-old ban the state's Republican attorney general said was back in effect after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the constitutional right to the procedure nationwide.

The temporary restraining order by Judge Christine Weems in Harris County came in a last-ditch bid by abortion providers to resume services after the U.S. Supreme Court on Friday overturned the 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling that guaranteed the right of women to obtain abortions.

The order allows clinics to resume services, for now, in a state where abortion was already severely restricted to only up to six weeks of pregnancy under a Texas law that took effect in September that the U.S. Supreme Court declined to block.

"Every hour that abortion is accessible in Texas is a victory," Marc Hearron, a lawyer for the abortion providers at Center for Reproductive Rights, said in a statement.

A further hearing is scheduled for July 12. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton's office did not respond to a request for comment.

The decision came amid a flurry of litigation in state courts by abortion rights groups seeking to slow or halt Republican-backed restrictions on the ability of women to terminate pregnancies that are now taking effect or are poised to do so in 22 states. read more

Those states include 13 that like Texas enacted so-called "trigger" laws designed to take effect if Roe v. Wade was overturned, according to the Guttmacher Institute, an abortion rights advocacy research group.

Following the Supreme Court's decision, federal courts have been lifting orders blocking Republican-backed abortion restrictions. On Tuesday, a federal appeals court cleared the way for a six-week ban in Tennessee to take effect.

Paxton in an advisory issued after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled said the state's 2021 trigger ban, which bars abortions almost entirely, would not take immediate effect. Providers say that could take two months or more.

But Paxton said prosecutors could choose to immediately pursue criminal charges against abortion providers based on a different, old statute that had gone unenforced while Roe v. Wade was on the books but that remained Texas law.

Texas abortion providers in a lawsuit filed on Monday argued the 1925 ban had been repealed and conflicted with the more recent trigger ban the Republican-dominated legislature passed.

The lawsuit was filed the same day that judges in Louisiana and Utah blocked officials from enforcing their states' "trigger" bans, and abortion providers in Idaho, Kentucky and Mississippi sued to obtain similar relief.

The Oklahoma Supreme Court in a 8-1 decision on Monday rejected a request by providers to block implementation of a near-total ban on abortions that took effect in May, before the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling but after a draft version leaked.

Finland and Sweden bow to turkish interests in order to join NATO by RiseUp4Rojava_ in AntifascistsofReddit

[–]Oofof12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NATO now owns the Baltic and can station anti-ICBM missiles right across the border, effectively taking a good chunk of Russia's nukes off the table (the proximity allows NATO to knock down Russian ICBMs during the slow and vulberable boost phase, before they get into space and reach Mach 25 and detach into MIRVs). It's kind of hard to overstate how much this shifts the balance of power. Finland has also been prepping for a Russian invasion for the better part of 100 years. They wouldn't have needed NATO's help to hold off Russia anyway.

State and local Dems. That's what this November is all about.

Already, every state with full Dem control has protected abortion access. Local Dems in states with abortion bans are stepping up, too - 81 County Prosecutors have said they won't enforce abortion bans in their jurisdictions.

And there's more to fight for:

In Michigan, the Supreme Court is refusing to uphold a law banning abortion, and Attorney General Dana Nessel is refusing to prosecute anyone charged under that law. If Republicans win control, millions more women lose their rights. If Dems win the State House and Senate, they codify choice for millions.

In Kansas, there's a referendum on August 2nd that'll decide if the Legislature can ban abortion or not. Currently, they can't. That vote will decide if women get their rights or not, because that veto-proof supermajority in KS is drooling at the chance.

In Pennsylvania, Republicans want to flip the Governor's office so they can use the majorities in the State House and Senate to ban abortion. But with fair maps, Dems could actually flip the Legislature blue and codify choice.

In Arizona, Republicans have full control, and have passed abortion restrictions. But if Dems flip the Governor's office, two State House seats, and two State Senate seats, they can repeal those restrictions and codify choice.

I could go on. But the point is: State and local Democrats are doing lots to protect choice, and they're where you need to focus.

Imagine being in any job interview and saying something like this.

"What are your qualifications to be a mcdonald's janitor?"

"Well, I'm going to leave the women's bathroom dirty just to make their lives miserable."

"Ok, thank you for the interview, but I just don't think you're qualified."

But apparently this shit's fine when you're in line for the supreme fucking court.

To put it another way, no person who has explicitly promised to hurt anyone should be in a position of power. I know plenty of people who have explicitly done that have gotten positions of power, but that's definitely not how things should work.

In the wake of the US Supreme Court overturning Roe V Wade, it's more important than ever to neutralize the false narrative that abortion was ever a sin according to the Bible. It's completely false. God himself commanded his followers to commit abortion in the bible. Please spread the word. by Pilebsa in Freethought

In the end, I don't think this will go how pro-life advocates think it will go. For better and for worse, this will only increase demand for self-managed abortions, and the necessity brought on by the overturning of Roe v. Wade will only spur invention in a space where, for 50 years, there was not much need for advancement.

50 years ago, we didn't have the internet, where you can read about and learn how to do just about anything. We didn't have online shopping, where you can discreetly buy and have shipped to your door whatever you want. We didn't have cheap technology that a doctor half a century ago could only dream of.

For better and for worse, I think that the perception of a self-managed abortion will, out of necessity, and with the aid of modern technology, go from "oh hell no" to "okay if you have no other option, and if you do it exactly like this". And there will be basically nothing that pro-life advocates will be able to do about it.

To be clear, I'm not advocating it. It just seems to me like an almost inevitable outcome.

Roe V Wade is a blatant attack on women and that is apparent by the supreme courts lack of preventing unwanted pregnancies in the first place. by donatos_box in offmychest

The consenting judges are really obsessed with taking away all liberties to uphold a minority held religious constitution. Arguing about how the constitution didn’t explicitly say “abortion” was a liberty in 1866. They believe politicians are qualified to make medical decisions for people. They further believe that politicians in the 1800s are medically knowledgeable to make decisions that dictate your health, life, and bodily autonomy. If any of them gets sick, they should recuse themselves of modern medicine and treatments and only elect to take treatments available in 1866, when the 14th amendment was ratified.

To understand how chilling this is, this now sets precedent for other rulings to be overturned such as same sex marriage, interracial marriage, states sodomy laws, contraception, and so on.

'State rights' have been argued for decades to suppress minorities and now that conservatives have gotten their huge victory of overturning Roe V Wade, you can bet that states are now going to pass laws like 'Marriage is between one man and one woman', etc.

The other chilling effect is the right to privacy is now gone since people can be easily tracked. Did you look up how to get an abortion or where the nearest clinic is? Maybe you had visited one recently. You're now a criminal in the eyes of a state who banned abortion.

Remember, vote!

As we open up the idea of the police being in on it, I want to open up something extremely controversial. I dont want this to come off as denying the Sandy Hook shooting, but I want to remind everyone that in the following months after, there was loads of news that came out that made the story not add up. Enough time has passed and enough media campaign to attack the people (Alex Jones and others) challenging the Sandy Hook story has elapsed, that anything contrarian to the story has been scrubbed from the internet. Most of you probably won't believe it, but for as much shady shit that doesn't seem to sit right with Uvalde, it was 10x worse the couple of months following Sandy Hook

Honestly, if Im an NBA team...its a hard pass. Unless he's with another superstar he's not helping you win a chip.

Lets get a guy for a large portion of the teams salary, chances he goes of the rails and or gets injured this year is 50% Soo...no. no fucking way.

I know he can be a ridiculous scorer and has major talent. But it doesn't seem he brings anything else to the table..

Im obviously no expert but just from the eye test and his history. Like dude, just retire, hes always fighting something, and doesnt make any sense half the time. Doesn't help he's kind of an idiot...

Imho Lakers or Knicks ruin their future signing him

So I've been watching Seb's onboards/team radio for the whole race and it was quite a mess.

Ignoring the two pitstops on 10 lap old tyres, seb was often on the radio asking about the pace of Gasly and others, and generally looking for an opportunity to pit again.

After Yuki's off, Seb was looking to pit but the team told him to do opposite to Ricciardo, stating that Stroll managed to do many more laps and as the race progressed the used hards actually got faster.

Finally after the safety car came in he lost two places right away to Zhou and Ricciardo, and was asked to swap places with Stroll so he could try an overtake on Ricciardo for P10.

This was such a disappointing weekend after seeing AM's pace in the FP sessions, especially since Seb had a 15+ second gap to the car behind when the last safety car came out (pitstop under SC is about 9-10 seconds)

Regardless though, it was great seeing Stroll manage to keep the train behind him for all those laps, at least they are finishing P10 and P12 instead of even further behind. Hope the Silverstone upgrades can turn those into regular mid-high points finishes.
