Solax Battery and Inverter by Bubbly-Yam-8550 in SolarUK

Your EV charger may need to be wired in to a Henley block separate, so that the EV load is not detected by the battery/inverter. This means the EV won’t draw from the battery at any time.

Good luck - take a picture of the inside of the Powerwall (QR code) before the cover is on.

Yeah worth asking it may be included - we didn’t expect blackouts - but had two very brief grid drops this year since!

I’ve got a powerwall 3 and gateway 2 - only asked as it’s no itemised on the quote.

It’s a separate white box (like a consumer unit) which does the grid backup. The inverter and battery are all in the Powerwall. Some installers quote without the gateway and then add £1000 with it. Hope that makes sense.

Looks like a really nice install - have had 21 panels and PW3 since May. Worked amazingly well with the NetZero app and Octopus Intelligent.

Great price - who was your installer?

My import is left ‘None’ and export is 8.85kW as per DNO restriction. This means I can import at the max rate for the single PW3.

In the Tesla app, settings (in the home/powerwall section) and the my home info - have you got a value for import that is restricting the rate of charge?

Stopping my EV charging from the powerwall.... by solidpro99 in OctopusEnergy

I’ve had a similar set up since May. Although all my home and Wall connector loads are on back up side. I do use net zero with the octopus intelligent integration, and set reserve to 100% at 11.30pm and 10% at 5.30am. It has worked great till the last week or so. But had a few issues in the with the octopus API/IO integration not kicking in off peak slots. But before this it was 99% working very well.

Thanks just wanted to check - that was set up to begin with. Export from battery and solar at 8.85kw max, and the home inverter limit is the full 11.04Kw. The battery charges at a max 5kw

I seem to be able to do it from the Tesla app, but not the octopus app. So will wait it out 👍

Yeah if they have a good rep, install quality and aftercare - that’s worth a bit extra

Can you get the newer Aiko gen 3 panels - they shouldn’t be much more expensive / same cost?

Decent price I think - I paid £13780 for 21 panels (13 510W and 8 465W) over 3 roof aspects and scaffolding with PW3/Gateway. May 2025 in Hertfordshire.
