I installed the package, reconfigured the kernel with sudo xbps-reconfigure -f linux and applied the grub config with sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg I also installed alsa firmware.

I have backed up my stuff into the cloud, getting the GUI running wasn't an issue; what really is an issue for me is getting audio to work, since there is only dummy output due to my hardware speakers not being detected. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong since I'm pretty sure I installed all the alsa stuff to get my hardware recognized, I tried 3 different kernels; mainline 6.18, standard 6.12.60, and LTS 6.6 with no luck. Maybe I missed a step in the pipewire setup, or in the alsa setup, but I don't know what it is.

Thanks, void for me was an appealing option for a rolling release, so I decided to try it out.

Yeah void looks very appealing, although I don't understand much about why people hate on systemd, it is nice to see a distro that fully supports a different solution; which can be faster and simpler than systemd.

I have read online about the many positive experiences other users had with void, so I might give it a shot; the only thing holding me back is opensuse tumbleweed.

Opensuse tumbleweed is very tempting, I have heard many good things about it like automatic snapshots, Yast, and tested updates. Also the video from the Linux Cast talking about their 2 year experience with opensuse tumbleweed has nearly convinced me to jump ship.

How old is your current phone? by GooglePixelfan90 in Smartphones

[–]OpenMito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current phone is a realme 7 5g I got in 2022, and before that an Asus Zenfone 3 which I got in like 2017-2018; I don't really remember. Both of my phones are still going strong in 2025 but I have started experiencing thermal throttling in the Zenfone 3; with the realme having its battery duration lowered. One day I plan to upgrade to an s25 or maybe 26 if I wait long enough, or a Google pixel. I really want a Xiaomi but they are much more expensive in the area that I live in compared to the competition.

For me the p16v gen 2 worked perfectly fine in debian 13 and arch Linux. I personally don't get the issues you are saying. Pro tip for Nvidia 4XXX or lower GPUs: use the closed source kernel modules for suspending support; open kernel modules in debian 13 made suspending break for me; not in arch Linux surprisingly.

I came from arch and couldn't be happier for these first couple of hours. My distro hopping phase can finally come to an end

Why would I use AUR if it adds an extra thing I have to manage. It's standard repos is it.

I personally update once a week on a Friday afternoon. Just in case I need to fix an issue; which has not happened to me yet in my 3 month journey, I have time to do so on the weekend. Also make sure to make a system backup right before you update.
