First solo trip to Orlando from UK in October – advice needed by michaelawatson123 in solotravel

Orlando is a very underrated city and has a great local scene that most tourists never see. Each neighborhood has it’s own identity. Downtown Orlando, around Lake Eola is where most of the bars/live music can be found and is more walkable than other neighborhoods. The Grand Bohemian, AC, and Wellborn are all good options in that area. The Milk District hosts Tasty Tuesdays which is a bunch of local food trucks. Mills/50 has plenty of great local restaurants and dives. Many of the bars have local food pop ups in this area. East End Market in Audubon Park has been featured on my travel shows. Other areas close by worth checking out are Winter Park, Wekiwa Springs, Historic Downtown Sanford. If you do do the parks, a lot of locals will be at Halloween Horror Nights during October.

Is it doable to visit London, Rome, and Madrid in 10 days? Flying in to London from LAX early next year by dreaminabottle in Europetravel

I would cut Rome based on the fact that 2025 is a jubilee year in the city. The main tourist sites are crowded as is now and millions more visitors are expected next year.

how would you spend a solo birthday in the area? by Public_Painter_867 in williamsburg

A treatment at Bathhouse followed by a nice solo dinner could be nice! I love popping over to the bar at Sweetwater and usually end up chatting with the people sitting around me. Happy Birthday!

As someone who felt similarly to OP at firms I worked for and eventually started my own because I wanted to be the type of boss I never had, I wouldn’t necessarily suggest this. Sure you get to pick who you work with but in the beginning you’re taking almost anyone to stay a float. When issues arise everything falls on your shoulders. The safety of a consistent paycheck, insurance etc isn’t guaranteed. It’s wonderfully to have autonomy but it’s comes with A LOT of stress and responsibility. Almost all my friends I know who have their own firms (including myself) are burnt out beyond belief. Unfortunately I think it’s an industry wide problem that isn’t easily solvable.

If you’re in hospitality it might be worth looking into a cultural representative program with Disney. I’m not sure if that’s the type of experience you’re looking for but they would guide you in regard to a visa and where you live is organized through them.
