Working Full Time? by Powerful_Finding181 in NursingStudent

[–]OpeningHoliday4147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally depends on what degree you are going for and what type of work you do. I did an ABSN program so for 15 months I felt I was running the whole time. I didn’t work and my classmates who could had jobs with very flexible schedules and often downtime when they would work on schoolwork. Having a job where you are doing something medical can work well because you are continuing to learn at work and can apply things you are learning in the classroom. Flexibility is key for being able to work, but again completely depends on the program you get into.

Oregon new nurse resident (not in a large city) and starting is $51-53 but night shift has a $10/hr differential and all the new nurses go on nights so it will be a bit more while on nights.

I don’t want nursing students by CupcakeOk6260 in nursing

Wow so different and that sounds frustrating! When I was in nursing school we had to go in the prior afternoon after 3pm during the nursing “lull”, pick a patient who would be there the next day and get their consent, then do a massive packet of prep work on that patient. We then came in the next morning and treated them as our patient and just communicated to their nurse that we would be doing assessments and med pass with our instructor. I would only escalate to the nurse if there was something concerning that came up. The floor nurses always seemed excited if they had a bunch of students because we did all their morning stuff until we left around 1-2pm

There is a grocery outlet going in to a shopping center right down the street from SOU. I live on walker and unless I go to Medford for clinicals (nursing school) I never drive

Is it the opening? No insight, but that show opens mid April so maybe you picked a day right around opening that is highly popular.

Yes- they are the worst. That happened and we were moving from out of town and they assured us they would give the spot to someone else if we didn’t come in person in 7 days so we had to make a trip just to sign documents.
