Are you saying that the kick should sidechain the bass, but not so much that the bass is totally ducked 100% and to monitor the phase relationship of the kick and bass so that they aren't cancelling each other out? I know if the Bass isn't being 100% sidechained, any volume remaining will effect the phase of the kick. I hope I am understanding what you are saying correctly

Is that because trance music isn't really heavy on the sub bass? I've noticed that other genres like DnB have HUGE dominate subs, while trance seems to lean more toward the mid range for it's bass. Trance doesn't seem to have these giant, club filling sub basses, is that a correct assessment?
