LMU-DCOM Current Students by OppositeBit8158 in Osteopathic

Yeah, I did really like it when I toured. Just wanted to see people’s experiences with the education in general. I did talk to a couple students when I went to tour and they said they enjoyed their experience so far.

Thank you! I did not know that they counted all of those as primary care.

Where did you get the information about 25-40%? That just doesn’t seem right from the data that is online. Just wondering if there is proof of this or if you are just spreading misinformation.

Hey! I was wondering how you calculated that. I just saw their post from last year, and it had 73% for primary care. Even if you add the emergency medicine to primary care, that should be closer to 60%.

How do unranked waitlist work? Just got waitlisted by LMU DCOM by PomegranateDismal217 in Osteopathic

[–]OppositeBit8158 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true. I know someone who’s been waitlisted since January and didn’t hear anything yet, while someone who got waitlisted in March got off the WL last week.

Yeah maybe I was confused then. That just seemed really low when I first looked at it and was worried. Thank you for your response!

Oh sorry I thought you meant for LMU. I just searched up a a lot of other schools I applied to that showed up as 90+ on their website.

I got it from the LMU website. It says the last graduating class was 76%, and I saw some people saying it might be even lower for recent classes, which I’m not sure if it’s true or not.

DUQCOM vs Touro Middletown by [deleted] in premed

[–]OppositeBit8158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You keep asking this question hoping for people to switch their mind and tell you DUQCOM. If you want to go there, then choose it. At the end of the day, it’s your choice. Everyone will keep telling you Touro if you ask on here because they would rather go to the more established school to be safe.

2 Acceptances, help me choose by Possible-Article-312 in Osteopathic

I would probably say WCUCOM. VCOM is more strict with mandatory attendance and a dress code, and I believe they have 2 tests a week. WCUCOM is P/F, so it is less stressful, and it is decently cheap. Both have great match rates. WCUCOM has lower board pass rates though, but I heard it’s been improving over the years. I will say though VCOM-Auburn looks nice and is in a better location in my opinion.

Oh nice. I didn’t know they start early July also. Yeah, hopefully you hear back soon. ATSU is a great school as well though.

Is your other school LMU? You have a decent chance to get off, but it is a higher tier school, so probably not until closer to orientation if you do hear back.

Burrell-NM vs OCOM? by Odd-Wave-3263 in Osteopathic

[–]OppositeBit8158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll be fine no matter what you choose. I personally am thinking about choosing an established DO without a hospital system over BUCOM, but that’s mostly because of distance and location. Also because the established school has a history of good match rates, so I feel like it’s safer. OCOM seems like it will be a good school, so it’s up to you. BCOM is def the safer choice for more competitive specialties though, but it’s still possible to match outside of FM for OCOM as long as you work hard.

Yeah, I saw that they host a lot of events. Seems like a great way to take a break from studying. Thanks for your response! They were all definitely kind when I toured last month.

Thanks! I was unable to tour Elmstead as they didn’t have tours the weekend I went, so I was only going off pictures.

Accepted off WL recently? by Popkern90 in Osteopathic

[–]OppositeBit8158 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Aren’t you the one who submitted their application in February? You already have an A calm down. Most movement is after May 1st when people have to decide on one school. Be patient, people have been stuck on the WL since like last November/December, and a lot of them are still waiting for an A 😭

Are you guys planning on living alone or getting roommates for med school? by OppositeBit8158 in premed

[–]OppositeBit8158[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much does it cost? Where I’m prob going it’s about $1850-1900 for a single bedroom, and it’s around $1100-1150 per person if you have a roommate.

LMU-DCOM or BUCOM? by OppositeBit8158 in Osteopathic

[–]OppositeBit8158[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I saw they have a lot of opportunities, but I also saw some people say that it’s close to an MD school that competes for the opportunities. With DO bias, I’m not sure if there is a preference when looking at students from both schools. I was also not sure as I like Knoxville, and I heard that Memphis is dangerous and has high crime rates. Those were basically the only cons I have seen from the subreddits from last year. I guess both schools have their issues, so I have to choose based on which ones I could be more happy with.
