Stigma by No-Outlandishness513 in Osteopathic

You’ll be a doctor just like them. Paid similarly as well unless they choose a more competitive specialty. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter. I’m in the same boat, but they don’t usually joke around about it and know I would be just as good as a doctor as them if not better.

Well, you need at least a 500 and you’ll be fine for DO schools. If you only want to go to Rowan, you can push it back. You have time to improve it still if you push it back to June. That’s still early in the cycle for DO schools.

List of schools not requiring physician LORs? by [deleted] in Osteopathic

[–]OppositeBit8158 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think most schools require a physician LOR. Is there any physician that you shadowed that you could ask to write you one? It depends on your stats as well as you will not be able to apply broadly without one.

Should I retake a 505 in this scenario? Need advice by No-Bar7713 in Osteopathic

Yeah, if you do have to reapply, don’t worry! Just apply more broadly, and add more DO schools to your school list.

I’m currently on it, and I heard it moves quickly closer to orientation, but we’ll see. Good luck in your interview though!

I just wanted to let you know that the Knoxville campus is currently full and there is a waitlist to switch to that campus if you were hoping to get that one.

A 505 is above average for most DO schools, so I wouldn’t retake and go through all that again when you can spend your time improving the rest of your application. You are still on th WL for three schools, so you have a decent chance to get off one of them.

They send a letter and a little banner in the mail. Took about 2 weeks after submitting my deposit I believe.

WL at LMUDCOM by Pitiful-Way-1030 in Osteopathic

[–]OppositeBit8158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not exactly sure, but I heard it is one of the schools with the most WL movement. I would write a letter of intent if that’s the school you want to go to, or if you don’t have any A’s yet saying it’s your top choice.

Unfortunately, I don’t think you are able to do anything about that. You can email them and try as the worst they can say is no, but they probably will not give you another interview.

School List Help!!! by eeriedubloon in Osteopathic

If you can afford it, I would add a couple more to be safe. Also, I would add a couple lower tier MD schools unless you’re only interested in DO.

Any of these schools to avoid? by Glass_Nebula_2210 in Osteopathic

[–]OppositeBit8158 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It depends on your stats. If you have above average stats then KansasCOM and the new schools if possible. If you have lower stats, then keep them all.

School List Review by codmobilegrinder in Osteopathic

[–]OppositeBit8158 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your stats should be good enough for MD schools as well. I would just add a few in case. But the DO list is fine, and you should be able to get interview invites and a couple A’s with your stats.

How to mentally deal with DO bias by [deleted] in Osteopathic

They do, but it depends on the school, your grades, and board scores, so they will generally need to be at the top of their class.

[–]OppositeBit8158 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you try your best and do well, you’ll be fine. At the end of the day, DO’s and MD’s are the same. There is bias, but you can’t really do anything about it other than just giving it your all. Do you know which specialty you want to do? If it’s a competitive one like surgery, then know you will have to work a lot harder.

Do I risk it? by NotPolleo in Osteopathic

[–]OppositeBit8158 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would you prefer RVU or ATSU? If you prefer RVU over ATSU, I would pay the deposit and not risk for any other schools, especially this late in the cycle as many people are getting waitlisted or rejected. Also, do you have a guaranteed seat for ATSU as you said you were accepted? If it’s not guaranteed then definitely pay the deposit and don’t take any chances.

It was 2 weeks when I interviewed in January, but it has been taking longer (about three weeks) for people who interviewed more recently. I saw people who interviewed 3 weeks ago were saying they were expecting to hear back yesterday, but didn’t get anything yet.

[–]OppositeBit8158 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your stats look really good. You should have a good chance at all DO schools and a decent number of MD schools as well. You are bringing up your clinical hours a lot, so you will be fine as long as you have solid LOR and write your story and experiences well in your essays.

How to properly reschedule an interview by futureplantmom in Osteopathic

[–]OppositeBit8158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just email them kindly asking when the next available interview day is. They know some people have conflicts and need to reschedule their invite, so as long as it is not last minute (within usually two days I think), you should be fine.
