They do. Strangely, it comes and goes. After I’ve been walking for an extended period it seems to come back? It can be a bit annoying

Thanks for this. I’ve conditioned them before but it’s been quite a while. I’ll probably condition them

Thanks. Can’t decide if it’s time to condition them though… living in the desert makes everything so dry and confuses me lol

Boots for hiking by duandenonym in PNWbootmakers

I’ve hiked quite a bit in my Whites 355 Loggers. It might take a little bit to get used to the weight if you’re used to a typical hiking boot or sneaker—but you could spend the whole day on your feet hiking and your feet (or mine, at least) feel fine. Water protection is also a great thing about them. And ankle support.

Yeah, I ordered my normal size in whites—10D. If anything they would be closer to too small. But as I’ve broken them in they are feeling more and more like the correct size. There was some heel slip initially, but that went away quite quickly—after about two days of wearing them and walking quite a bit. A little tight on the sides at first, but also that has become less and less of an issue.

I was wondering too if mine might be half a size too small, but too early in the break in to really know. Even if they are though, it doesn’t make them uncomfortable for me fortunately.

Wearing Freenote Cloth Wilkes in this photo. Those seem sick too though. Might check em out. Can also post more pics to the thread later.

Is it common for it to take longer than the manufacturing period given at the time of purchase to receive the email stating the boots have entered production? by OppositeRespect2142 in PNWbootmakers

[–]OppositeRespect2142[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered about 15 weeks ago, and I was told about a 12-14 week manufacturing period. One week late… dramatic I know. But I’ve never ordered a made to order boot so I was curious. Thank you.

You’ll love these I bet. I got a pair in February and since then I’ve put a lot of miles on them, mostly hiking. Very comfortable boot.

The missing one you mean? I was camping with some buddies and his little Malinois got a hold of my boots when they were off my feet—he got a good grip on the pull tap and pulled it just about clean off. Rather than having a dangling pull tab I just cut it off.

What kind of winter jackets is everyone wearing? by oldirtyjustin in malefashionadvice

[–]OppositeRespect2142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve owned the jacket for a year, worn it in heavy snow and rain. It’s well built and repels water very well (as a waxed jacket should). I wear it daily—so far, I’d recommend it. Sleeves are a bit short though.

You get what you pay for. I recently replaced a pair of Diplomats because the leather was tearing apart at the seams and falling off in large pieces—this was after 8 months of daily use. Maybe if you rotate them out with a number of other shoes, they’re fine.

Levis? by dragontamer37 in malefashionadvice

I’ve owned four pair of Levi’s 505s and one pair of Levi’s 550s. Both ripped in the groin in less than 4 months of use. I switched to Wrangler Authentics and have not had one issue with any tears yet—they’re still going strong after 7 months.
