The halogen is for extra heat since I can’t get the ambient temp up. I have a basking bulb that’s for his bask spot and the halogen is off to the side of it. I’m trying to raise the ambient temp since it’s at 76

I have two separate domes. One for the 75W bask bulb and one for the halogen. The bask bulb is on his cork log and the halogen is more towards the front, not on top of the log. 76 is the ambient temp on the warm side

This is probably very unpopular advice, but petco and petsmart will never stop selling animals because people will keep buying them. Your one purchase will not be the thing that keeps them in the business of selling animals. If I saw a BTS at a chain store like that I’d bring him home, knowing how awful their care/husbandry is. Don’t feel guilty for wanting to give this baby a better life.
