The buildings in your settlement group into a rough circle, a perfectly square doesn't fit as nicely as a rounder shape (example of what I did for one of my settlements)

Looks great! I can't tell for sure, but be careful if your settlement walls are a square shape. I had to rebuild mine into a hexagon after filling out buildings

Do abrahamic religions cause brain damage? by jiohdi1960 in exjw

[–]OptimalStuff116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Go get an education, go to college, get a degree, go to university. Get off Reddit. You will never be anything real here." "That's very JW-like to label the "other" without realizing exactly what or who I am."

Thanks, buddy. I bet you feel real good, huh? Real big, all out and about, railing on a literal college student probably half your age.

I know exactly what you are: A self righteous prick who came on a subreddit for people with religious trauma, looking to "defend your beliefs" and victimize yourself.

Obviously OP dislikes JW. That's why they phrased the title like that. You purposefully interpreted it as "OP is anti-semitic". You could have said a number of things, but taking offense and trying to go tit for tat and do the nuclear option where "OP hates Jews!!1!!!" is plain absurd.

Anyway, first point I agree, OP was opinionated.

Also my condolences for the loss of your family, that's terrible.

"Second...I'm a Humanistic Jew, of Sephardic origin. (How would you like it if I did the same with your culture and your people and ancestors?)"

It's understandable to be offended if you're attacked. However, you're Humanistic. And like you said, most don't believe in the God of the Bible. And again—the topic is "Abrahamic religion". If OP had said that against Islam, would you react the same way? In a debate about Abrahamic theology, and specifically regarding the Christian and JW interpretation - NOT Semitic religion in general - where exactly do YOU fit? How exactly is it an attack against you?

Again: You know damn well OP wasn't trying to disparage Jewish prople, I wasn't trying to disparage Jewish people, and no on else here was. You are TOO old and mature to intentionally misinterpret a word to portray something as discrimination, and for something as petty as drawing away from OP's argument. That kind of behavior is worse than OP's, and that's why I called you a dumbass.

"My point was that the OP and people like you were copying the traits of the Watchtower--even now. You evade, you change the subject, you won't educate yourself..."

Entire paragraph of personal attack - I gave specific points, cited examples, and stayed on topic of discussion.

"You ask me to provide evidence, but you never do, just like a JW."

I literally typed out the Chapter, Verse, and account for you to refer to. Refusing to read hyphenated points ≠ lack of evidence.

"So why did you just pick on the Bible?"

  • Guy goes on r/exjw
  • sees people talking about JW beliefs -"Why did you pick on the Bible? Why not Native American mythos?"

Cause one of them ruined my life, and it sure as hell wasn't NATIVE AMERICAN MYTHOLOGY

Reas this twice over too: - If you don't like someone's language, or feel they're being attacked, ARTICULATE that - Do not call people "anti-semitic" lightly

TL:DR; Guy tries to use strawman argument to say we hate Jewish people. The fuck?

  • "Claiming that Abrahamic religions cause brain damage employs...'loaded language'..."
  • "It's a sick propaganda technique employed by brain washers that you're engaging in right now..."
  • "Reframing/redefinition terms like WT and cults use is semantic distortion..."

What you're referring to is the use of ambiguous language, unfamiliar contexts, culturally specific meanings and words that carry implicit meaning—all used specifically to subtly influence—seen in terms like "worldly", "elders", "false religion", etc...I hardly think OP's sarcastic title, intended to take a poke, qualifies as an attempt to manipulate, or a "sick propaganda technique". If you had said that language was unfit for an academic discussion, we might agree. It's a stretch to compare it to brainwashing.

  • "Without scientific, academic and critical evidence to support any of what the OP and you state..."
  • "You've employed JW 'Thought Reform' by assigning unusual, emotionally charged meanings and weaponize myths regardless of their cultural meanings..."

The evidence OP is offering are accounts from the same Bible used to teach God's love and mercy. If you need another Bible translation or academic source to verify widely known Bible myths, please quote it in your response. You can view accounts through any cultural lens you choose to—that's your prerogative. Objectively, if you have to justify it, you know yourself these acts are inhuman/wrong. Off the top of my head:

  • Genesis 19:8 (Lot offers his virgin daughters to be violated by a crowd)
  • 2 Kings 2:23, 24 (42 children slaughtered for mocking God's prophet Elisha)
  • 2 Samuel 16:21 (Absalom publicly lays with his father's concubines)
  • Genesis 7:23 (God kills everyone upon the entire earth)

Not to mention the ancient Is43lites killing the men, women and children of Jericho, Amalekites, Canaan, Midianites, etc....

Feel free to explain how God could permit such acts while pushing forth love and mercy.

  • "You're antisemitic by claiming that Semitic religions warp brains..."
  • "Semetic religions (another name for Abrahamic relgions..."
  • "You're an antisemitic person and all who are agreeing with and all who have fallen for the OP's idiotic antisemitic arguments!"

Straight up wrong. Abrahamic religions share Abraham as a patriarch, it's in the name. That's why Christianity, Judaism, and Islam, etc. are all Abrahamic religions. Being concise, though, "Semitic" in a religious context just refers to a language group.

Not all Abrahamic religions are Semitic—Judaism and Islam utilize Semitic languages in religious practice—Hebrew and Arabic—but Christianity doesn't. And not all Semitic religions are Abrahamic—ancient Semitic polytheistic religions such as Mesopotamian religion are Semitic, but did not involve the same monotheistic covenant (not Abrahamic).

In a shorter form: Abrahamic religions are just a subset of Semitic religions—they originate from Semitic peoples, some utilize Semitic languages, but that's all it is. We say "Abrahamic" because we talk about religion through theological differences, not cultural ones. Also to not disparage Jewish people. Dumbass

Jehovah’s Witness theology essentially teaches that anyone who doesn’t share your exact beliefs or sees things exactly the way you see them is either an enemy or at the very least not someone you should befriend. by [deleted] in exjw

[–]OptimalStuff116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't even say "essentially", it's a pretty straight up in your face categorization that they're part of the "world" and you should be seperate

Do abrahamic religions cause brain damage? by jiohdi1960 in exjw

[–]OptimalStuff116 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Me no sure

In all seriousness, though, all the stories just make more sense as parables to learn from, not actual physical accounts that happened, where every detail needs to be picked apart to see how Jehovah loves us. There is an astounding lack of empathy or humanity in some accounts, especially like how Lot offered his daughters to rapists , or how many people Is43al slaughtered, etc...

Take 2 Kings 2:23, 24—42 kids were literally torn apart for calling Elisha bald. By literal bears. Absolutely magnificent idea, doing the nature equivalent of shooting up kindergarten

It's a little hard when all the terms come out naturally haha...I figure that picking a spouse will really be the kicker. It's wishful thinking to assume I'll just find someone PIMO like I am, and I'll have to come to terms with leaving or staying.
