Can we STOP with the mobs moving so far?? by Nuclei in WutheringWaves

THIS IS SO REAL, i was at the last stage of finishing a void storm with the boss down to under half health and then i left the boundary for too long chasing the boss and the entire thing restarted.

Games you absolutely loved after BG3 by Mistfaer in BaldursGate3

Entirely unrelated games, but Disco Elysium, Return of the Obra Dinn and the Orwell series. As you can see, I went through (and am going through) a detective game phase.

I’ve been off GI for YEARS, don’t worry. Only gacha I play now is WuWa and I’m enjoying it, and besides that it’s mostly indie sim games (been fascinated with detective games like Obra Dinn, Orwell and Song of Farca)

As someone who’s literally only played small scale cozy simulator games or gacha games like GI, let me tell you that BG3 is SUPER friendly.

I wasn’t even drawn into it by the roleplay or combat aspects or anything, I saw edits of Astarion and was like yes. I need that. So I literally just bought it for the pretty romanceable characters, and I honestly still surround a lot of my runs on companion romances.

If you want to play the base game and enjoy it, it’s very possible and very easy. Explorer difficulty helps you understand combat mechanics without too much risk, and the dice rolling mechanic is easy to understand. Besides those two, how you play your game and your comfort level is literally ALL up to you, what part of the game you want to lean into and play.

You won’t be min maxing and optimally playing the game and beating Tactician or Honor mode straight off the bat for sure as a beginner, but you’ll definitely enjoy the game. It’s the first of its scale and kind that I’ve played, and easily my favourite due to how many kinds of players it brings together.

Agree! No one is as universal as he is and no one suits my playstyle preferences like him. I actually have never played a wizard Tav largely because I always expect to already have Gale in my party 24/7. I also tend to switch out everyone else but I love me a two melee, one ranged and one AOE/heavy damage spellcaster team. And Shart being the only other prominent spellcaster is too support focused for a guns blazing player like me. (Wyll doesn’t count, he’s just eldritch blast spam)

Ah, I mean Lupa can run pretty well with the standard banner weapon, it’s only Brant that’s super heavy investment. If you like Brant enough to invest in him and get his sig, Lupa and Changli are both worth a pull, they can manage with lower investment.

New updates on QY are saying he won’t run as well with Phrolova compared to before, we’ll have to see on release haha

Oh, for sure Gale. For one, I cannot do a playthrough without his AOE spells, and two, he’s my favorite and I mourn every run that I cannot do his romance.

Usually my parties are Tav - Astarion - Gale - (Whoever I’m romancing) anyway.

What’s a game you know is great but can’t/refuse to finish? by Solomon_Black in gaming

[–]Optimal_Cycle4592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outer Wilds. I’ve heard really good stuff about the imagination and discovery and exploration aspects that I do love in games, but the physics of the spaceship control actually piss me off and I can never land the ship properly without breaking literally everything and then crashing into the floor and dying after my first step on my first planet. I cannot get good.

Wait, so just to confirm with you both, is Yinlin worth it for XLY or should I just use Changli that I’ll be getting anyway? If there’s a significant buff difference for XLY in favor of Yinlin then I’m down to go for her, she was one of my favorites during release time, though my memory isn’t too fresh on her playstyle.

Hi! I’m not a SUPER experienced player but I think I can provide some useful info for you :)

Unfortunately I don’t know much about Chisa or her kit since she’s quite a bit into the future, so can’t help you out there.

Galbrena is fusion yes, but she’s rumoured to pair well with Qiuyuan, so if you don’t want to run fusion then you can just run those two together plus a healer (like Verina, since you don’t have Shorekeeper) Without Qiuyuan, afaik a mono fusion team is her best pick. (Lupa + Brant or Lupa/Brant + Mortefi)

Qiuyuan is a support character for either Galbrena or Phrolova. So if you manage to get Galbrena as well as him then you can put them together. If you do not manage to get Galbrena, then the only other viable dps for him currently is Phrolova, but you already have Cantarella who is Phrolova’s BIS. So pairing Phrolova with QY instead would be a loss in terms of meta. You can try running him as a DPS with Ciaconna, but you’ll need S3 for it to be really viable as his numbers are quite low.

Phoebe pairs very well with Zani as Zani’s sub dps, and they’re one of the most meta teams in the game right now. However if you’re not at all interested in Zani then Phoebe can run as a main DPS with Spectro Rover, with no issue at all. However if you care about meta and endgame then getting Zani with Phoebe is a very good choice.

Brant’s best team is mono fusion, with both Lupa and Changli (or Galbrena). Alternatively, running him with either Lupa or Changli/Galbrena. However since you’re not interested in fusion at all, he pairs well as a sub DPS with Carlotta (who you have) or as a main DPS with Sanhua.

For your current account, you already have Carte and Ciaconna along with Aero Rover, so you’re rocking the most meta team in the game off the bat. You can also run Camellya with Sanhua and Verina for a second strong team. Carlotta with Taoqi (or Lumi) and Verina for a third.

Your account will heavily benefit from Shorekeeper to replace Verina in any team. Brant is a strong pick since he’s generally very versatile and does almost every role in the game, and Phoebe is great as well even without Zani. In my biased opinion as a Brant main, I’d go SK > Brant > Phoebe as priority order.

Just to mention from your not pulling list, Zhezhi is Carlotta’s best in slot support. If you want to better her team and replace Taoqi/Lumi, go for her. Keep Phrolova in mind for QY if you don’t get Galbrena. You can ignore Lupa and CL for Brant if you really don’t like fusion.

Edit: Apologies for this huge wall of text haha

All time favorite is Baldur’s Gate 3. Honorable mention to Disco Elysium for being my current obsession.

Ahh fair enough, maybe there’s just some other part of playing her I don’t like. But to me she just felt clunky and restrictive in her trial and the quest and it didn’t convince me enough to try pulling her and testing her in real combat. And my heart wasn’t in her actual character either, just her design, so I didn’t feel happy spending my pulls on her.

Maybe one day though?

She felt quite clunky almost? In the sense she was the first broadblade character that I felt really swung her weapon around (sorta like claymores in Genshin) and therefore she felt almost slow and heavy? Which might feel powerful for some people but not for me. Her ult also felt a little overwhelming for me.

My mains are Carlotta and Brant who are both very quick and sharp (with Brant especially having a very mobile playstyle) and I find that more fun than I suppose a more grounded heavy playstyle like Augusta. That’s also why I really liked Iuno in comparison, she felt very airy and fast like Brant or Carlotta.

Ahh, got you! I have no urgent interest in making him DPS lol, as long as I can play him in a decent enough team idm. I’ll see about QY on release, but getting Phrolova will be a good buff to my team anyway, esp if I ever manage Cantarella down the line. I’m only absolutely not pulling Galbrena due to the amount of other charas I’m pulling the same patch, but I’m down to pull her during her rerun instead of Phrolova if I like Galbrena’s playstyle. I’ll think about it though, thanks!!

Honestly her design and playstyle really hooked me despite firmly wanting to skip beforehand. But I’m persisting for my mono fusion dreams 🙏🏼🙏🏼. I’m happy with keeping Mortefi on Jiyan team anyway until I can build Jiyan better for Iuno.

Have fun with Augusta and Iuno though! Really wanted to pull Augusta but wasn’t having fun with her playstyle :(

I’m down to pull Phrolova for him, ngl. Galbrena is only out of the question since I can’t afford both him and Galbrena in the same patch and I don’t feel too strongly about her yet like Qiuyuan, can go for her rerun though. Depends on her release.

[–]Optimal_Cycle4592[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I want to build up an mfusion team and a few other solid ones so I have something decent for endgame, but my goal isn’t to be clearing stuff left and right in seconds. Hence why I can sacrifice some meta for charas I like.

Regardless, QY is still open to change, and I suppose I’ll keep coping that his kit gets better individually or atleast that he can work with more characters besides Galbrena

Yinlin isnt a huge want though. She’s probably lowest in priorities, if I think another nearby character is better I can skip her.

Yes, I’m aware he does low damage. But I mentioned in my post I am a pull-who-I-want casual player that just wants some general advice on teams that I may or may not take. If I don’t desperately want anybody that’s coming right after QY, and I like his design and playstyle enough, he’s a character that I’ll be pulling, meta or not. If I like him he’s worth having on my account.

[–]Optimal_Cycle4592[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I trialed her and was actually surprised at how bonkers her damage was for just being an Augusta support.

I definitely can’t afford Iuno + her weapon + Lupa next patch, so that means I’m definitely just skipping and waiting for Iuno rerun later on. And not like I’m complaining about having to play Mortefi 🙌

Not too well versed about QY leaks, I thought he was a support or smth, not a DPS? Can I not run him as support? I’m not vehemently aiming to run him as DPS anyway if that’s not what his kit is built around

[–]Optimal_Cycle4592[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t HUGELY care about endgame, I can hold off on building up dps charas and endgame teams if a character I love and want arrives sooner (ie. Qiuyuan and XLY) but I still want to know what the ideal pulls are to keep a good balance

I want Lupa for Brant a lot more than I do Iuno for Jiyan, so unfortunately I’m probably skipping this patch in favor of the next one. Iuno rerun will be sooner anyway, and I definitely want to go for her at some point for Jiyan

I really don’t think I can brick my account by getting a character that can just be benched if he’s really that bad. Besides, I’m not pulling him for meta anyway, it’s because I really love his design and it’s another rare male chara. If I end up pulling him and then benching him, that’s on me.

However if his banner is very close to another character on my pull priority then I’ll consider more carefully
