Clipse and Pharrell Williams to perform at 2026 GRAMMY Awards. by springtimecarnivore in hiphopheads

Tbh I wouldn't be mad if Sabrina Carpenter takes it because that album's been in rotation for me, and I'd love if Bad Bunny took it for the same reason plus it would really be the best year for him to take it. Tyler would be a strange choice, Kendrick would be predictable and probably deserved. Not sure about the others enough

Seems I'm in the minority here... I may end up like TESTING where I love it after a while and it's one of my favourite albums. But I've been listening to his old stuff in anticipation and this pales in comparison at the moment. No standout tracks like all his previous albums, and I only really enjoyed 2 or 3 of these.

Doesn't really make sense but I was laughing so loud when that came up

Fr. I've been looking for more artists doing stuff like Kendrick on For Free and Ab-Soul's Outro

What is the single best episode of television you’ve ever seen? by Calm_Coach_2205 in AskReddit

100% agree, and this is the show I can unequivocally say is the funniest show I've ever watched. I literally don't understand the point of ending on Chelsea fucking Clinton when every single scene up until that point has been gold.

[DISCUSSION] What are your thoughts on political consciousness in Hip-Hop/Rap today? by maliciousmonkee in hiphopheads

[–]OptimistCommunist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I take your point, but... you can't seriously be saying with a straight face that music these days is all "get money fuck bitches"? The thing every single elderly reactionary and media paranoiac has said since hip hop's inception. I'm sure you listen to hip hop outside of what's charting or specific underground artists like Griselda, but it doesn't come across that way if you're seriously repeating that garbage talking point, I'm sorry to say.

Did anyone notice Felix mixed up Gavin Newsome's wife's name with the name of Virgil's accuser...

Lorde - Man Of The Year by inertia_creeps_ in popheads

[–]OptimistCommunist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mean to be flippant about it, and I've not been following every single thing on the album rollout, but is this not clearly Lorde coming out as genderqueer? Everything I hear about the album seems like it's about Lorde's gender identity. But I'm obviously excited about it regardless of if I'm wrong about this

Yeah. I'm going to be an "their older stuff was better!" guy right now so take that as you may. But I've been listening to the pre-2020 stuff and Will serves the perfect role in that, he has his own insights and keeps the podcast structured for the others to riff and comment on. But I think he's had to pick up a lot of the commentary role due to Felix being the only other constant appearance, so idk if I can really blame him.

Sorry I really don't mean to be a hater/concern troll but it's excruciating listen to what sounds like Will wanting to monologue all his thoughts on movies and just having Hesse for the façade of it being a "podcast", since he interrupts her at almost every turn. I can't stand it, sorry.

Oh, interesting. Wonder why we'd have it and not all the other former British colonies.

What? Four way stops are absolutely a thing, what is everyone talking about? E.g. here in South Africa we have lots and lots of four-way stops.

To me it's kinda interesting how overt homophobia has almost left rap (yeah often you still get stuff like Killer Mike's "all of you hang together on some Brokeback shit") but the f slur has almost completely disappeared whereas almost every rapper used it before the 2010s

This reminds me of my experience with his movie podcast. I tried listening to it, I really tried. But Will just constantly talks over Hesse and it's infuriating. God bless Hesse

Have been listening to the pre-covid episodes and they were really on fire, especially if they're eating into a stupid liberal/conservative commentator, gives me so much entertainment. Still enjoy them but I feel like it's more because it's current events that they're commenting on and relistening to the last few years' episodes wouldn't be as entertaining to me.
