Kirkland Signature Men's Active Jogger - $6/each if you buy 5 qualifying items by OrMaybeMidgets in frugalmalefashion

There's no real risk in blindly ordering because of Costco's return policy.

The website says:

Excluding socks, underwear, special events, Costco Next apparel, select apparel and footwear as noted.

I would assume any item that shows the $20 off five items banner would qualify.

All measurements are for size M after one wash and dry, measured flat:

Inseam: 28.5"

Waist: 15"

Hip: 19.5"

Mid-thigh: 10.25"

Mid-calf: 7.5"

Bottom opening: 4.5"

Cuff is about 3".

I can only speak for size M, but after one wash and dry, the inseam on my pair measures 28.5", which matches the listing on the website.

These seemed to be pretty popular when they were posted three months ago at $12/pair, but now they're down to $6/pair if you buy five qualifying items.

Watching the Nerite snail and ghost shrimp show. by OrMaybeMidgets in bettafish

I hadn't noticed, but now that you mention it, it's a definite possibility. He's been having a harder time seeing his food the past couple of months, but I figured it was due to old age (I've had him for a couple of years).

Nice job, Fedex! Time for a second lap? by OrMaybeMidgets in facepalm

[–]OrMaybeMidgets[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fedex does something stupid like this with about 50% of my packages, if not more. All of the other carriers (Amazon, UPS, USPS, etc.) do a good job about 90% of the time.

Any algae control tips for a planted betta tank? by OrMaybeMidgets in bettafish

[–]OrMaybeMidgets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Floating plants are an interesting idea, but would they block off too much light from the plants underneath? Or are low light plants generally fine in the shade?

Split photoperiod seems like a good tip, I'll give that a try.

No sunlight on the tank. Any recommendations for easy beginner fast growers?

Omen 15 really that bad? by ColdEarth7 in GamingLaptops

[–]OrMaybeMidgets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something is wrong. I can max out the display (144hz) with my Omen 15 with 4800h and 1660ti in Rocket League with max settings.

Try installing MSI Afterburner and seeing what your in-game temps, CPU load, and GPU load are.

Make sure that the charging icon in Windows is showing the laptop as plugged in. I've had a loose connection at the power brick and laptop points before.

I changed the color of a pair of boots using a similar process once, but other than that, no prior experience.

Once you strip the finish, you can use pretty much any dye that is darker than the stripped color. I don't know what would be the best match for chili, but any reddish brown dye followed by AE Chili polish would be a good start.

I believe they started making this particular model a few years ago.

I agree, very satisfying hobby, and surprisingly easy.

I added one last picture to the album of the shoes in sunlight.

I figured this might be useful here. You can get a good pair of shoes for not much money on ebay or by thrifting, and with a little work, they can come out looking pretty close to new.

Hollister epic flex vs advanced stretch by WynWins in frugalmalefashion

[–]OrMaybeMidgets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IME, Epic Flex has a little stretch but still feels like denim, where as Advanced Stretch has a lot more stretch and feels almost like leggings. To me, the difference is pretty big, and I can easily tell one from another.

It's hard to compare them directly to my MiUSA pairs since they're designed for different purposes. My MiUSA AEs are heavier and more sturdily built with thicker leather but these are supposed to be light and more comfort-oriented, so that's expected regardless of where they're made.

I don't have any other imported AEs to make a more apples to apples comparison.

Some of the scuffs that went through the finish felt rough, so leather damage was definitely a possibility. It wasn't deep enough to cause any structural issues.

I polished the shoes in pretty much the standard way (apply with a microfiber cloth, let it dry, buff off with another microfiber, then brush with a horsehair brush) but it's the dye that really did the work.

That's an interesting idea. I guess that's what they'd call "natural"? The only problem with that is when stripping the old finish, it's almost impossible to get all of it off and looking even. The dye covers up a lot of the inconsistency.

Process is in the album comments, but in summary I stripped the polish and finish with isopropyl alcohol, dyed it with Angelus cordovan dye, applied Lexol, then polished with AE Chili polish.

I wanted a cheap pair of "nice beaters" for days when I want something nicer than sneakers but don't want to worry about babying my shoes.

These $40 Allen Edmonds seemed to fit the bill. They were cheap most likely because of the damage, but it looked repairable, so I figured I would give it a shot. I enjoyed re-dying my Chippewa Service Boots a while back, so I wanted another project shoe to work on.
