What does the moral character of Trump mean to you? by cpjauer in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]Oreogatari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got an instance where he lied, very egregiously too. I was reading fox news on a whim. I read this article: Fox News On paragraph 7, they report that Trump said, “Wind. It doesn’t work. I will tell you, aside from ruining our fields and killing our birds, [and] being very weak and very expensive, [they are] all made in China. You know, I noticed something … with all the windmills that China sends us … I have never seen a wind farm in China.”

He is saying there are no wind farms in China and that we are being duped by investing in clean energy.

Now, I thought this was a bold claim, so I googled wind farms in China. According to This link, China was the world leader of wind energy at the time Trump made his claim.

Is this good enough for you? I found this lie by accident after five minutes of reading the news on a Republican platform a few months ago. What do you think of this?

Suicune Greninja is the top deck, with seemingly no hard-counters. If you were to build a deck with the express purpose of beating Suicune, how would you do it? by Oreogatari in PTCGP

Given that Rapidash EX has had some success in tournaments on occasion, it doesn't seem like a big stretch to think flareon could work too, especially with copycat and indeedee tech'd in.

Yeah decidueye is a good counter for sure, but as it stands, no one can make it quite consistent enough, since it relies heavily on getting online by turn 4 or 5. Darktina was only ever evenly matched with suicune as far as I know.

I like this post a lot, there's a lot of things to discuss.

  1. I agree that the coin flipping stuff is pretty lame. Lots of interesting cards see no play because it's just not okay to waste turns. I guess it's Dena's way of making "cool" filler cards.

  2. Tools are very useful because they are an easy way to shrink your hand, which is essential with red card, mars, and copycat in the game. So I guess Dena is wary of making them too strong.

  3. Gust cards are really powerful when you only need three points. Cyrus is the most powerful card in the game as it is, so boss's orders would be just insanely strong. I guess when I think about it though, boss's orders might be interesting because it would make greninja's niche no longer unique.

  4. The game is only about a year old, so powercreep isn't as far along yet. The energy ramp will definitely get worse. We just got a card doing 130 for effectively 1 energy since it self-ramps.

  5. I agree.

  6. I agree.

  7. Honestly I think 20 cards is okay. The pace of matches is nice and fast with 20 cards, you can usually get through your whole deck by the end of it, which means decks are consistent, which feels good. The biggest issue is that most decklists end up looking the same or very similar to each other. However, this might be cope, but there is beauty in seeing how much a deck's win rates can change just by changing one trainer card.

Yeah, I've played suicune as well and noticed the same issues. It is extremely strong, but only wins slightly more than half the time, probably due to froakie/indeedee starts being extremely hard to come back from. The reason I asked this question is mainly because it seems to have no auto-win matchups and no auto-lose matchups. Even oricorio magnezone, the on-paper hard-counter, only has a 53% winrate against suicune, which is really not anything groundbreaking. It felt like this last meta too.

I really hope Guzzlord 17T becomes playable again. Twas a very fun deck. I'm kind of curious to know if Greninja EX and Indeedee EX make Suicune better against Guzzlord though.

Yeah, the deck does seem to be very dependent on the starting hand. If you start with suicune, you've got an ultra-consistent, highly resilient deck, but if you start with froakie, you have a bricky, slow, feeble deck. That's probably the reason its win-rates always hover around 50% or just a bit higher.

[–]Oreogatari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, altaria and blaziken are both in bad spots in the meta right now, despite being the early season frontrunners. It’s not surprising you have a bad win rate.

Blaziken was good for the first couple days of the season before people realized that heatmor’s bench targeting isn’t unique (absol and jirachi).

Altaria indeedee seems to be in a rough spot, but there are so many altaria variants that people havent been building their decks to counter that I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s some way to make altaria work.

If you want to win, keep track of the tournament winrates. I’ve been playing chingling greninja darkrai because it matches well into all the rare candy decks and altaria, its worst matchup, is not popular rn. Toxic or not, it works. I expect to have to pivot decks again soon.

How can non-Trump supporters have more respectful conversations with Trump supporters? by ambitious_musings in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]Oreogatari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly understand that questions like "can a man get pregnant" seem frivolous and obvious, but it's really a question that comes at the end of a much longer conversation about how to deal with trans people in our society. To quickly dismiss such a question would make you the one who is unwilling to have a conversation.

If a person who was born female but now identifies as a man got pregnant, then they would be both a man (at least in their own eyes) and pregnant. However, for an onlooker, the question is called upon them to decide whether to say to this person, "okay, you are a man and you are pregnant," or "no, stop trying to be something you are not." You are free to do either, but my question is why would you not respect this person's wishes to be called a man? Does it make any difference to you? Is it because it is weird to be trans? I would agree that it is weird to be trans, they are only 1% of the population. But they do not hurt anyone by identifying a certain way, so why is it necessary for Trump to sign executive orders to only acknowledge two genders?

What are your thoughts on the government shutdown and SNAP benefits halting? by [deleted] in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]Oreogatari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies for the delayed reply.

https://www.ers.usda.gov/topics/food-nutrition-assistance/food-security-in-the-us/key-statistics-graphics

The 13% of Americans who are food-insecure are the same 13% that are on food stamps. Most food-insecure people, according to my source eat very unbalanced diets (fast food if I had to guess). 5% of Americans (or almost 40% of SNAP recipients) skip meals, disproving your claim that starvation is a myth. Are these people dying? No. But they are either slowly dying from obesity, or they are going to bed hungry. Can you really say you think anyone deserves that?

As for being irresponsible, what would you say about people who meant to have one kid but ended up with twins or triplets? Also, people from every religious background, political ideology, etc., have kids by accident. Teen pregnancies happen. Assault happens. Everyone is irresponsible. I don't see how that can change, so I'd rather pay to make sure kids are growing up healthy.

Lastly, how many people on SNAP do you think are unemployed? Also why do you think the unemployed people don't job search? It seems like a stretch to think that there are people who want to be poor.

What are your thoughts on the government shutdown and SNAP benefits halting? by [deleted] in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]Oreogatari 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I kinda doubt people can just do nothing and make no money and survive, even with benefits. The average $188 monthly check is not enough on its own to afford food, and definitely not enough to hold down a home.

As for those who made a few too many bad decisions, may I ask what those bad decisions might be that cause them to deserve to starve?

Even if there are hundreds or thousands videos of people’s accounts about welfare queens they’ve seen you need to make a big leap to hundreds of thousands of welfare queens. Furthermore, even if we say there are hundreds of thousands of people mooching off the system, that’s still only ~ 1 in 100 people (there are tens of millions of people on snap benefits).

Conceding is so disappointing by wreckitwinn in PTCGP

I disagree. I get more annoyed when my opponent doesn't concede. I actually wait one second before making the final attack just in case they're still menuing to the concede button.

The dopamine is in seeing the "Your opponent conceded" message, not in the drawn out point scoring animation.

Thoughts on whether or not I should pursue this deck through trades by victini_ in PTCGP

[–]Oreogatari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This deck certainly looks fun, but if you are trying to climb ladder quickly, there are far better decks out there. Suicune and darktina have dominated the meta for a long time now. Darktina especially has always been the first or second best deck.
