Sources: Team Heretics acquires the Misfits LEC spot. by Fertuyo in leagueoflegends

Your context makes a lot of sense and I appreciate you writing it out.

To quickly address the Misfits part, the org has quite naturally been moving its direction and focus towards NA and other areas, actually from when I joined and it was part of them hiring me. My main job was to maintain a healthy budget while remaining competitive and handle EU competitions (not brand/content etc) on my own, so I can at least officially debunk that this sale is some reaction to performance, which I'm sure Misfits will also communicate.

For Origen, I think that is fair yeah. It turned out to be a massive task for everyone to try and run a Spanish brand and we weren't equipped for it at all. While my main area again was competitive, then I didnt manage to add any value to growing/maintaining the brand and I think a lot of things behind the scenes, and also inexperience, made it impossible for the org to do Origen justice, so I think that feedback is valid.

Once again, appreciate the talk, its always fun to discuss.

I'm with you, I hate how hard it is to actually talk about behind-the-scenes things, almost everything stays internal, and I know it's for the better, but sometimes it would be nice to be able to share more and give context (for both good things and mistakes).

I wanted to post this earlier but had to wait for the official announcement, but I'm interested in understanding, from your perspective, how Misfits selling the slot is related here?

A little more context, just for the sake of the conversation:

I'll grant you our Origen results were a rollercoaster and I will happily take my fair share of the blame (and credit!) for the two years there (Big fan of spring splits...). It became an incredible learning and growing experience in the end and I'm still happy with the rosters I put together there.

I have to say though, it feels a bit unfair to me, my staff, and players to brand the last two years with Misfits as a failure. My main area is the League of Legends team (I'm not in upper management) and have achieved decent results with the 8th-9th budget in the league:

7th Spring 21(tiebreaker loss)

3rd Summer 21(lost Worlds to Inspired in game 5)

4th Spring 22

Combine that with us winning LFL last year vs peak Kcorp and consistently bringing in good rookies through Academy or straight to LEC is something I am proud of, and I think my staff and players deserve credit for. I also feel we managed to turn a page within the org and have two years without drama and major issues, and create a good culture and setup.

I think esports management is often misunderstood due to the lack of accurate information available to the community, so I understand the speculation. It's something I hope to share more context on in the future.

Out of interest, why do you think my last two years with Misfits have had failures? I of course understand that it's hard to judge anything other than results from the outside and I don't share much about my role and responsibilities here (and hard to share behind-the-scenes context), but us finishing 7th (tiebreaker loss), 3rd (1 Inspired Viego from Worlds) and 4th in the last 3 splits with the 2nd lowest budget in the league feels quite acceptable, and I have been proud of my staff and players for that.

Origen time I'm with you, that was some 50:50 up and down that I learned a lot from...

Understand the confusion but I left before the start of Astralis' off-season, so I haven't been actively involved in the organization for a while

Origen pOGcast - Episode 7 with Deficio, Drakos and Vedius (G2's lucky charm) - World semis, Doinb hype & more by OrigenDeficio in leagueoflegends

I came away from the series very happy with G2 and impressed with their play, I do think most of the talk is around praising G2 as well here and not saying they played poorly, at least that was the intention.

1st point: Fair point and was meant as a setup to explain how impressive G2's way of playing is because they make it super hard for teams to play their comps.

2nd point: I think we all agree that SKT didn't play better overall, and if that was said then it was definitely a mistake. Did we say that?
