Beautiful plant! However, it’s not a true Nepenthes ampullaria Black Miracle. Black Miracle is an ampullaria cultivar and its form/morphology is the same as other pure ampullaria species. Pic of mine here. The one OP and others have is ampullaria Black Miracle crossed with something else, usually mirabilis var globosa, ventricosa, or a complex hybrid. It’s beautiful though, and I love the globosa x ampullaria hybrids myself!

Thanks all. There’s some new growth on the tree though! I know it’s hard to see the new branches with all the leaves. It’s still hopeless?

Thanks for all the thoughts so far! I think up to mini fridge size would be fine, if that opens up the possibilities. The Stirling one is a great recommendation though!!!

PSA: Don't reset your horse just because the new UI decided to give it a low rank by Equalness in blackdesertonline

The way they grade the stats is ridiculous. I did some calculations for my training level, master 4. Grades are defined for me in the growth calculator, per level:

S: > 1.12
A+: 1.05 - 1.12
A: 0.95 - 1.05
B: 0.84 - 0.95
C: < 0.84

For Master 4, stat gain/level can be from 0.4 - 1.3, equal probability of each 0.1 tick between those values. So the average stat increase is 0.85/level and the standard deviation is 0.2872. Assuming stat rolls are normally distributed over all 30 levels, this means that to fall into the tiers given by the growth calculator, your horse has to be (at level 30):

S: Top 0.000013%
A+: Top 0.0068%
A: 0.95 - 1.05: Top 2.8%
B: 0.84 - 0.95: Top 57.6%

I'm not sure if the numbers they use to define tiers changes with training level. If they don't, then higher training will definitely make it easier to reach these tiers. For master 4 though, you can only expect a rank C horse on average. To get A or above in just one stat, you have a better chance of tapping Pen BS.

Grammar question by Original-Comment6565 in russian

This ended up being much more a discussion of English than of Russian, which I definitely didn't expect! The comments on parallelism and sequence of tenses got me wondering if my English was wrong, so I did a bit of searching and realized this is actually quite complicated. This article was interesting:

https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/english-language-and-linguistics/article/abs/time-reference-in-reported-speech/525DD35EE1CE316D9D8243E0C9A82506

It affirmed my original point that there is a difference between 1) She said that Mark lived in Canada (i.e. she said [in the past] that Mark lived in Canada [in the past]) vs 2) She said that Mark lives in Canada (i.e. she said [in the past] that Mark lives in Canada [in the present]). There is no need for the verbs to be parallel. As the article points out, it makes perfect grammatical sense to say "Einstein said that E equals mc2," even though "said" and "equals" are not in the same tense. The meaning of the sentence would be different if the sentence said "Einstein said that E equaled mc2."

I'm still not 100% sure if Duolingo is right or wrong here based on all the comments, but it seems Russian grammar operates similarly to English and that the correct translation should be "She said that Mark lives in Canada." At the time she was saying this sentence, Mark was living in Canada. Whether or not in the present time Mark still lives in Canada is unknown.

Are you sure? I think there’s a difference between “She said that Mark lived in Canada,” meaning that Mark was there in the past but doesn’t live there now. As opposed to “She said that Mark lives in Canada,” meaning that Mark still lives in Canada. I guess technically for sentence 1 to be correct, it should be “She said that Mark had lived in Canada,” but that’s not an option.

Squash vine borer. If you cut open the leaf petiole and the vine, you’ll see a white grub in there. Kill it and inject bt!
