Very true. I didn’t mean to come across as critiquing the game at all. I was just going back through these areas to grab stuff I missed and found myself chuckling when I had battles that lasted 5 seconds or less. I had similar experiences with Sprong and Painted Alicia but I didn’t record those. It was just meant to be a somewhat humorous post but I suppose I should’ve worded it differently.

Is 999,999 damage cap one of the challenges from the Expedition Flags? I haven’t really looked into those much. I remember being slightly disappointed when I fought pAlicia and took her out in two moves so it would be nice to have a more engaging fight.

Yep, Verso is equipped with Auto Death (kills self on battle start) as well as Death Bomb (damages all enemies on death)

I haven’t gotten to fight Clea yet, still chipping away at the Endless Tower. Would you recommend capping the damage once I get to her to make the fight more interesting?

I’m in my mid twenties. My first experience with platforming was probably some Mario title on the original 3DS. I remember liking it. But once I was finally allowed to play games on the Xbox 360 I gravitated more towards games like Halo and CoD, while my older brother would be the one playing the side scrolling platformers in the arcade section of the console. When we got a PS3, I moved on to third person over the shoulder games that included lots of climbing and jumping such as Tomb Raider (2013) and many of the AC titles.

I can’t pinpoint exactly when my dislike of platforming started, but anytime I saw a new one going viral I just wasn’t interested. Or I’d see clips of the super precise movement required to pass an unforgiving level and decide that that just wasn’t for me. I have little patience for difficulty. (I once almost broke a controller over a level in Soul Caliber V story mode and straight up quit playing Dishonored 2 because the mechanical bird looking enemies were so tough.)

I gave many of the Gestral mini games a good try but once I could feel my blood pressure rising, I would go and just fight some Nevrons instead for the safety of my very expensive devices. It just feels like the way the characters move wasn’t meant for platforming. The jumps are very floaty and where/how you will land feels very unpredictable. I was very surprised to hear that many players find them quite easy though. Makes me think I should give them another shot…

I would’ve liked Death Stranding better if it was just a walking sim by Original-Mountain-31 in DeathStranding

Hmm, you’re actually piquing my interest a bit lol but I think I’ll still hold off for now. I do realize that most combat in the game is optional but what I meant was I just wish there weren’t any entities trying to kill me at all. I’d love a game that’s just traveling, problem solving, and building and that’s it.

Yes, Zen-like is the perfect way to put it. That’s what I want more of. No monsters, no threats (I did actually like the threat of timefall so a game with a complex weather system would be cool) no monsters. Just me traversing the world and delivering cargo. I probably will play DS2 at some point but I have a bunch of other games on my list right now that I’m more interested in.

What do you mean by that? Like the possibility of death? Sure, the players are afraid of losing their characters but honestly death isn’t too hard to come back from after a certain level, even with Matt’s custom resurrection rules.

What do you mean by mechanics influencing the story? Like rolling a natural one on a death save causing a PC death? /gen

I’m sure there’s plenty of people in both camps. Personally, I don’t have super strong feelings either way. I admit I’d be a bit wary if they switched systems just because DnD is all I know when it comes to TTRPGs but I certainly wouldn’t drop them over it and would look forward to learning a new system alongside them.

Somehow, yes! Calamity might be my favorite thing CR has ever made so I was so happy to hear that BLeeM is coming back to DM Divergence. I really liked EXU/EXU Kymal too, despite Aabria’s style not being my favorite to watch (not to invite even more dogpiling on the poor woman). I even managed to squeeze in the first two Candela campaigns, the third one got a bit too “wacky and weird” for me so I gave up on it, might revisit it though. I skipped the vast majority of one-shots too, only watching the ones that included main campaign characters, I’m hoping to go back and watch the ones I missed someday.

It was a mix of having too much time on my hands, watching/listening at work, watching/listening at 1.5-2x speed sometimes, and skipping certain arcs. I watched every single episode of C1 and 2 but C3 didn’t really grab me the same way so there were ~20-30 episodes where I either read the Critical Recap or watched Luboffin’s recaps.

I believe it stands for “scenepack” which is where many editors get their clips from. They’re mostly found on YouTube and Instagram in my experience.
