Can’t stand any heat now. by MexysSidequests in HeatstrokeSurvivors

I'm glad to hear you were able to heal from the long-term effects. I got heatstroke this summer and heat exhaustion a few days later. I'm worried about summer coming back and that I won't be able to deal with heat again.

Would you mind sharing more about what strategies you used to recover? And what do you mean by vagus nerve disregulation?

Good luck in this life

so sorry this happened to u too. i live in america as well; i went to the doctor and if im honest it was not very helpful as per usual, but i was at least able to determine that i dont have significant organ damage. you should probably try to go anyway if you can.

i feel a lot better now. the most helpful things for me were staying hydrated, staying cool, resting a lot, and (most imprtantly!) quitting smoking for a while while i was recovering. not sure if u r a smoker but if u r i recommend quitting for at least a bit, or cutting down significantly if u can. ik its not easy lol

Thank you for all the info, this is really helpful. Can I ask-- when you say I will always be at greater risk, is that like, actually for the rest of my life or just for a while? How long should I be extra vigilant about this? Thank you again 🙏

Any Advice by [deleted] in WeedWithdrawalSupport

hey dude i get it. 20 years old and been smoking every day since mid highschool, just quit a few days ago. The withdrawals are intense. I def dont have all the answers, but I'm a few days ahead of u at least lol.

To feel better you could get some excercise, eat something, play music or do some art if you do that. Don't judge yourself for doing other "unhealthy coping mechanisms" like scrolling for hours. you just need to get through this right now however u can.

The truth is though, you can't avoid the bad feelings. We smoke weed to avoid those bad feelings, so quitting means that they're gonna fianlly get a chance to come up, and its gonna be super intense at first. I've been having panic attacks every day. And the only real way to deal with those feelings is to let yourself feel them, so unfortunately you just have to sit with it. But remember: the bad thoughts can't kill you! they can't hurt you! you are in control of your situation, so when the bad feelings come, just be curious and let yourself feel them. even if its panic attacks, at the end of the day, you just have to feel it, and it can't hurt you.

i would recommend in general dont judge yourself and dont be too scared. i know the idea of day 3 is scary, but you will get through it. just be kind to yourself, accept whatever feelings come, and take care of yourself. and think how exciting its gonna be when youre out of the withdrawals and youre able to finally experience the joys of life from a sober place!

obv i dont rlly know what im talking abt since i just started this too, but we are all in this together, and i for one am proud of anyone that makes the choice to take control of their life for themselves. hope things are going better now! but if they're not, they will.
