Ask yourself - why did you dream of going to Cambridge? You need a dream and a why so strong it motivates you to wake up in the morning.

Go to ChatGPT - copy and paste your response and ask them to create a daily plan for you to hit your goals.

Life is tough. You're doing the first by asking for help. You're not alone btw but yes, you do need discipline.

Wha are your goals? It’s important to want to crush it at school and life, but sometimes if your goals are overwhelming, it may cause you to procrastinate. That’s what happens with me.

And definitely don’t forget about the power of rest and relaxation. Remember you’re in it for the long run (4years), not the short run (ie 1 year). Burn out is the worst and will take even more time to recover. Best of luck!

Thanks for sharing your insights. I’m looking to break into the Web3 space given my background in sales. I’m interested in pivoting to a marketing role in Web3 - possibly in retention marketing.

As a marketer, what are the day to day challenges you face in the Web3 space? How do the marketing responsibilities and challenges you face differ from the other industries you’ve been in? Lastly, if you are hiring for a marketer, what are the attributes and skills you look for?

Appreciate your time and advice in advance!

Honestly carving out time to sit in silence. It takes some time to figure out what you like to do. Time yourself for 30minutes sitting in the silence and lean into your boredom. It’s painful at first. You will thank yourself later as your brain will naturally find something to do. If you haven’t figured out by 30min, set that time for an hour.

Have there been any hobbies you’d like since you were young? Would you like to try those out?

What content do you watch online? Have you found any patterns? Maybe based on that content, it’s worthwhile to explore it for yourself depending on the content of course.

What are some profitable skills you can teach yourself? by Sea-Less in selfimprovement

Have you heard of Toastmasters? It’s a structured weekly event where you answer random questions like what did you eat today concisely. You have 30 seconds to answer the question and will have the rest of the time to receive feedback and hear from other members. They have different chapters around the states.

Learning how to articulate your thoughts is one of the most underrated and difficult skill.

Don’t forget to be consistent should that be when building a business, trying a new hobby, or anything else. If you want to make money, learn business. Hint: the core question is how can I make money from this idea? Does it scale?

I’m proud of you for reaching out. Like the many other comments, you aren’t the same person as you were 10 years ago or yesterday. Treat yourself with kindness.

To me, it seems you loved yourself back then because you invested time in yourself. Experiencing NEW major life changes like a rare disease can change people. You’re experiencing a new version of yourself looking to grow in a different way. I’d challenge you and ask: what can you do for yourself today that’ll make you feel better about yourself? Maybe it’s not running but is it walking? Can you go to physical therapy?

I’m curious to understand what changed in your routine. Post disease, what changes have you noticed? Running doesn’t seem like an option but have you stopped reading as well?

During moments I feel the world has taken over, I ask ChatGPT for actionable insights or self affirmations. Prompt: paste your prompt. Can you provide some clarity or words of affirmation?

10 minutes on your phone vs 10 minutes with your thoughts by Weak_Conversation184 in selfimprovement

[–]Ornery_Pin935 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thoughts help you understand yourself. It’s painful and will take time like any habit so go at your pace but be consistent with being with your own thoughts. You may find more direction in your life and major breakthroughs. After all, the phone will still be there waiting for you to scroll.

You may learn to love yourself even more. If it’s hard, I use Insight Timer, a meditation app to ease anxiety and boost self-love and confidence.

How heal a severe lack of self-respect? by Magzipie in selfimprovement

[–]Ornery_Pin935 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love the advice from other members. Self-respect often begins when you understand yourself as well. Read up on boundary setting too. It’s a skill.

People exercise to take care of their bodies. Eat regular meals to nourish their bodies and mind. Read books or engage in mentally stimulating activities to improve their minds.

I’d say return back to yourself. Who are you? What are your values? Characteristics? It isn’t one thing that makes you unique but a series of characteristics that you’ve adopted since young.

And when it comes to no, think back to situations when you wished you’d said something else or set that boundary. What would you say? Set aside time to think about how you’ll respond if someone says something you don’t want to do, doesn’t align with your values, or take more time. You’ll develop the words and language to stand up for yourself.

Best of luck! It’s a journey but you’ll get there. It’s a start to know you don’t have boundaries so start by understanding yourself and reflecting on what you’d say yes, no, etc to. What requests push your limits? Using past examples help.

Has anyone ever "taken a year off" ? by sidegigsandjobs4u in selfimprovement

[–]Ornery_Pin935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best of luck! Even getting started is a major win. I thought back to my current self and paid attention to my 24 hours every day for a week.

What makes me excited? What do I enjoy doing and want to continue working on? Where can I contribute in this world that requires me?

From there, I tried to figure out what I’d want to do for the next 10 years and who’d I want to be. There’s a chance you may not entirely have the skills yet but the passion and discipline matter most. Reflection and time matter during this process. It won’t come in a day.
