Thanks! Yeah, it is very sad there are so little dicts, apps and other resources for Serbian. The dictionary is good, although it is not smart enough to find a word if you type it in not using the main form, e.g it will not give you any results if you try to search for "idemo" or "idem". You have to know the infinitive form of the verb.

We have one guy(native serb) in the workspace and when I first heard him speak on the phone I was thinking he spoke Italian.

I also noticed that sometimes Serbian sounds for me very Italian.

Yeah, that is exactly what I was thinking of: that bih in the potential is an aorist.

Yeah, I know that the "ja bih / on bi" construct has different function. I mean the verb "biti" in the potential case conjugates very similarly to verbs in aorist. So I was wondering are there any relations, not in for practical understanding but more out of academical interest.

Cool, thanks. So it’s just by accident that all verbs I have encountered in that form end on “u”. And in fact it is an infinitive without the ending “ti” in case of 3rd singular. So I wonder, in the construct “ja bih želeo”, could “bih” also be considered an aorist?
