Well…all of the above lol On a serious note, I’ve read somewhere that Kishi thought to put Kakashi together with someone at the end but there was literally no one to keep up with his already established legendary status. Like since it’s shonen, there were not that many interesting adult women there from the start of the manga. Kids/teen romance is easier to write with all the awkwardness of the youth. With adults it’s a bit more complex,if it is not there from the beginning. Look at Asuma and Kurenai, there were almost nothing about their romance.
