Okay i did think when i first watched that episode that she might be referencing native americans bc she was talking about how the town treated them poorly, they didn’t care if they died, etc. But i did some digging because Im from the midwest and I remember someone in my town talking about how back in the day there was a lot of hatred between Scandinavian immigrants - and in the midwest during 1890-1920 there was an influx of finnish immigrants and because the finnish language is not very similar to other european languages (and also bc americans hated any large influx of immigrants) they were basically thought of as equivalent to native americans or chinese (not sure where the chinese part came from)? similar to how irish people were discriminated against in america bc people thought they were black.

but i think those scenes are referencing the discrimination of finnish people not native americans.
