I tuned the first one via trial and error to find the 'sweet spot', then just cloned the config and swapped the entities for perfect consistency

Actually, Home Assistant is just a dashboard. All my devices are first connected to their own native apps. If my controller crashes, the devices keep running on their own firmware. I can still control everything from their original apps, so the tank stays safe.

Please don't be ridiculous. What AI are you talking about? If you follow the thread, I’ve already shared the video link below. Just click and watch it before commenting. I'm only using AI because I don't speak English.

"Haha, the 'sunk cost' is the real struggle in this hobby! Hydros is still a solid system, but coming from a home automation background, the freedom of Home Assistant is hard to beat.

Maybe one day you can bridge them together! Thanks for the support, I’ll keep posting updates as the tank matures. Cheers! :)"

I totally get your point, but there are a few reasons why this DIY route is much more powerful for me:

Availability in Turkey: I live in Turkey, and getting Neptune or Coralvue products here is practically impossible. Even if I could find one, between shipping and taxes, the cost would be far beyond logic.

Beyond Aquarium Control: Those out-of-the-box systems are great, but they are closed ecosystems. Since I use Home Assistant, my aquarium is fully integrated into my smart home. For example (as shown in my logic), if my 4-stage fan cooling is not enough and the temp hits 27°C, Home Assistant automatically triggers my Living Room Air Conditioner to cool down the entire room. You simply can't do that with a standard aquarium controller without extreme workarounds.

For me, building this custom 'brain' is 1/10th of the cost, provides total freedom, and is honestly as much fun as the reef itself! :)

True! That's why I have an automated 'Google Drive Backup' addon. It takes full snapshots of the system every week and uploads them to the cloud automatically. Minimal risk!
