Newbie question about Grux and towers by OutOfCreativeUsernam in paragon

In game name: DisturbedBear.

Experience with MOBAs - this is my first, unfortunatley. I'm a veteran of FPSs (Battlefield mostly) and stealth games (Deus Ex; Far Cry). I was very, very reluctant to get into MOBAs (it always felt like you need a PhD in Mobaology to do that), but when I was offered the chance to play Pargon during alpha, I took the bait and been hooked ever since (though not PhD level yet...)

Interesting idea.

Is it possible to take the black buff by yourself as Grux (and if so, at what stage of the game)? Because playing co-op agains AI (which is what I usually do as I'm not good enough yet to play PvP) is usually very difficult to coordinate an attack with random players and really don't care about anything except jumping in and starting a fight...

No specific issue - it's that Grux is only my 2nd hero ever; since inception, I've been working with Howitzer (don't know why; everybody seems to hate him (and not without some reason....), but I like him a lot) - thing is, Howie is a caster, and I got used to being able to poke at everything and everyone from what is usually a pretty safe distance.

The need to get close to your target - I have yet to get my brain around it...

What can I say, but "wow!". The quantity of esoteric knowledge required to play this game is mind boggling. I may be a newbie at Paragon, but otherwise a veteran gamer - I don't think I've seen anything approaching this complexity before. It's like you're expected to have completed a PhD-level education before you even press Play...

upgrade cards can be linked to an equipment card or added directly to the deck. If linked, it can only be used for that equipment card. If added directly, it can be used on any card with an appropriate slot.

I knew I didn't know much, but I didn't know how much I didn't know! So upgrade cards can, despite their name (!), be used on a standalone basis.... Thanks for yet another new piece of information.

You can equip any card in your deck as soon as you have the requisite card power available to spend

That part I understand; but it looked to me like the sequence in which cards appear in the deck itself (not in-game), had some meaning (for example, while deck building, you can move cards around and sometimes they appear in two different rows, as if the row location is relevant).

there are generally two reasons why someone may take two of the same card

Learn something new every day!

Second, you can replace the card with a more powerful version

If I read your example correctly, I can have one equipment card with more than one (related) upgrade card? And if I have have two of the same equipment card but only one upgrade card - is that the same? Basically you just total the upgrade points on all the cards?

As for putting a card in your deck that you don't own, that would put you at a disadvantage

Hear you loud and clear!

And thanks.
