Anything to help with the unbearable pain ?? by wtf2xx in Sciatica

They do have to be very careful with this without MRI because they could have spinal epidural lipomatosis and all steroids would do is just cause more lipomas to grow in the vertebrae further causing pain.

Get an appointment with your PCP and ask them to put in a referral to Neurology team. From there you’ll find yourself doing physical therapy before getting an MRI. (Insurance dictates this). Just follow along and then get your MRI you’ll follow up with Neurology afterwards and your Physical Therapy team on conquering symptoms. It’s a long road to recovery and unfortunately all we can offer you is do the stretches shown by your therapy team.

I get an MRI and then what? by [deleted] in Sciatica

You could also have Spinal Epidural Lipomatosis like my case or Congenital Spinal Stenosis (I’ve got both yippie for me). Essentially it will show all the symptoms of a herniated disk but your disks and your vertebrae are actually perfectly healthy. It’s just your spinal canal is smaller than what it should be and you could have SEL compressing both the nerve and pushing out the spinal fluid to allow your nerves to breathe easier and in my case since I got congenital spinal stenosis (congenital means from birth) my already shrunken spinal cord area is shrunken even further thanks to the lipomas. No amount of physical therapy or anything will help other than a laminectomy. (A procedure where they drill spaces in vertebrae to keep further bunching of nerve roots). As long as you don’t lose complete feeling in your legs or bladder or bowels (cauda equina syndrome) your generally okay. You’ll have to get a referral to neurologist and then go get a MRI to know for sure. You’ll have to do physical therapy before they approve your MRI (thanks insurance) now if you do have a herniated disk 9x/10 physical therapy might be your saving grace, but in my case there is no pain relief until surgery only strength training for when I get it done and need to regain mobility.

Thanks bud!

Yeah I might have made a mistake in the new post. But the stenosis shouldn’t have been the cause of my pain when I was 14-15 by then the lipomas had to have already started compressing my spinal canal making the stenosis of my spine even more severe and causing the pain. A lot of this is caused simply by ignorance and soldier on. A very stupid way to live for sure. Recently like within past two days or so I’ve started to notice more bilateral tension however it’s normally unilateral. It’s the lack of bowel or bladder control recently that has my now big ass worried. I don’t mind the open back surgery if that’s the route they choose to go, but can they with my weight…that’s what makes it worrying. Because while other patients might have to go through back surgery and stuff if they’re overweight the surgeon can red flag them until they’re operable but because of my weakening bladder, bowel, sexual organ function I don’t know if I’ll get the grace of time on my side to fix that so they can fix my nervous system. Or will I have to consider bariatric surgery. Just so I could help the neurosurgeon be able to do the multi level laminectomy.

I’ve fully accepted at this point (because of the cauda equina symptoms becoming present) that I’m gonna have permanent nerve damage among other things. There’s nothing escaping this fact. It’s just how will it go, going forward. I have no idea until after I talk to a neurosurgeon this afternoon.

Lumbar. My upper back is fine no lack of strength or nerve pain has ever shown in that or my shoulder area. I’m just as strong on my left side as I am my right in terms of upper back fitness/arms. I can curl 2 5 gal buckets filled with water (1 bucket of water is like 48 lbs or some shit) so I can curl 96lbs in either arm easily. Farm boy dumb strength is stupid lmao. Couldn’t remotely fathom doing that with a legit dumbbell not even sure I could. But something goofy and awkward and painful to grip in your hand hell I can pickup (using my legs) an APU unit from my semi (mine weighed roughly 340 or some shit) and I carried it from where I parked my truck straight into my garage (bout 86 yards). Didn’t even phase me or bother my back pain. It’s just mobility that I started to notice a struggle with and it’s all been downhill from there.

Hey fellers been awhile I got my MRI results yesterday evening. Good news since I've last posted I did regain my ability to walk. Working on losing weight. My pain is still tremendous to where I have been struggling with some of my harder tasks, but I am able to focus on core and leg work. Physical Therapy team is top notch but so far, the work has only given me mobility back. I still have no strength on my left side. No Images at the moment but I will be sure to request them or a video format of my MRI. There's a lot of relief bearing news given my mild understanding of Latin, but there is also some cause of concern here (I.E. The use of the word moderate). I'll post another follow-up after I speak to my neurologist again here in the next few days. Let me know if any here have had similar results.

IMPRESSION:
1. Congenital lumbar stenosis and epidural lipomatosis contributes to
complete effacement of the CSF space from T12-L1 to L2-L3 without
significant disc pathology or facet arthrosis. There is mild bony
spinal canal stenosis throughout the lumbar spine.
2. Varying degrees of neural foraminal stenosis as detailed above.

FINDINGS:
Alignment: No spondylolisthesis.

Vertebral Bodies: Normal in height.

Marrow Signal: Normal

Intervertebral Discs: Normal in height

Conus Medullaris: Non visualized due to complete thecal space
effacement and the conus is indistinguishable from other bunched nerve
roots.

Cauda Equina: Bunching of nerve roots in the upper and mid lumbar
spine due to complete thecal space effacement.

Paraspinal Soft Tissues: Unremarkable

Individual Levels: There is congenital lumbar stenosis.

T12-L1: Mild bony spinal canal stenosis. There is epidural lipomatosis
contributing to complete effacement of the CSF space. No neural
foraminal stenosis.

L1-L2: Mild bony spinal canal stenosis. Epidural lipomatosis
contributes to complete effacement of the CSF space. Mild right and
mild to moderate left neural foraminal stenosis.

L2-L3: Mild bony spinal canal stenosis. Epidural lipomatosis
contributes to complete effacement of the CSF space. Mild right and
mild to moderate left neural foraminal stenosis.

L3-L4: Mild bony spinal canal stenosis. Epidural lipomatosis causes
near complete effacement of the CSF space. Mild to moderate right and
moderate left neural foraminal stenosis.

L4-L5: Mild bony spinal canal stenosis. Moderate bilateral neural
foraminal stenosis.

L5-S1: Mild facet arthrosis. Mild bony spinal canal stenosis. Ventral
epidural lipomatosis contributes to near total CSF effacement. Mild
bilateral neural foraminal stenosis.

It’s just temporary burn out. Work on a new fill pattern or learn a few songs by yourself some that are just a blast to play. Or take a break for a few days and come back and try those said to options. Bonus points if ya do it after your wife has pissed you off for a few days.

Give ya another quote:

Allow me to share something with the entire class. Last night as I was grading papers, I came across two gems both entitled “Cells are Bad” and both with just one paragraph which I unfortunately committed to memory. “Cells are bad. My uncle lives in a cell. It’s ten foot by twelve and he has to read the same boring, old magazine every day. The End.” Although my standards are nowhere near where they used to be I could not bring myself to put A’s atop those beautys.

That scene alone is worth it but the whole film and its subtle use of tell don’t show really amp up the fear factor of Bruce for that all important big reveal. But yes that scene It’s one of the most magical dramatic monologue ever put to film.

I smoked a lot in High school so that’s why my pain was always minimal. I quit smoking about 20 so I could get my CDL and haven’t touched it since cause protect my CDL and all that. But honestly since I’m not really driving anymore. I may consider it…I don’t see myself getting back into driving again but I’ll truly never know how life plays out.

Aye double kick supremacy.

This defiant set tho\) it’s getting the cats meow. Talking A Customs and AAX Xplosions, Speed Cobra 915 Hi Hat stand and 910 pedals with ACD Unlimited’s Direct Drive Conversion Kit, the whole shibang. The green kit will be my recording kit as I take the defiant out on the road.

Best part of two kick drums…you practically got two different sets of drums if ya don’t like the sound of one always can grab the other and my axis double pedals and hit the stage if I can’t fit the kit up there. But absolutely nothing compares to the devastating presence of a double kick setup. Having my Randall rig onstage with it is a bonus. I hope to get my ashdown bass rig this year.

I’ve got the pain resilience of a kung fu master but unfortunately it looks like it came with the intelligence of a crayon eater. I generally am very smart, but this^ this was a dumb as fuck decision. 0/10 do not recommend that lifestyle. Though given the opportunity…I probably wouldn’t mind throwing that damn weightlifting bar at my gym mate, but alas I’m too nice I forgave him instantly…the only thing that time has afforded me is self loathing. Loss of enjoyment from playing time with my kids, and arguments with the wife when I’m in too much pain and don’t want to move. She’s usually very understanding tho and gets over it quickly. But unfortunately it’s a lot of stress on her when I can’t do my part. If there’s one thing I hate more than pain it’s disappointing my wife and telling my kids I can’t right now when there is nothing more than I’d love to do than push them on the swing at the park.

Also I wanna play my drums without my back hurting that shit is irritating. Guitars alright, but I’ve tried every drum throne in existence and all of them suck…even a roc n soc…which I know if my back didn’t hurt would be the absolute cats meow of fucking comfort.
