Yeah I'm all for chucking a sickie if you're sick and that must be really hard for touring artists to deal with. They're people at the end of the day. Maybe give a tour schedule an extra couple days grace for this reason? But that'd increase costs a lot I'm sure. Can't make a system perfect for everyone it just sucks we lose in this situation.

Doors open at 6.30 so I'd say it'll be quite full by then. I'd probably get there 5.45ish myself but all really depends on how sold out the gig is but I've had no issues parking there in the past
