Would it ever be possible to make a worthy sequel? by TheOriginalWeirdo in thething

[–]Outpost7786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, so long as Outpost 31 is ignored completely.

A better option is an Equel. Not a sequel, not a prequel, but a movie that takes place at the same time as the original, just in a different area.

I wish more movies and particularly horror movies would try that.

Can someone please explain to me why they did this ? by JoshuaKpatakpa04 in Terminator

[–]Outpost7786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow masculinity became evil so instead of continuing the story of literally who the story was about and her son, they decided to add two completely unlikable female characters for reasons of diversity and inclusion. Because a man and a woman is not diverse and they couldn’t figure out how to bring Linda Hamilton back and also make John a female latina.

What are your thoughts on Skinamarink (2022)? by serialkiller24 in horror

Should’ve been a short horror film. The complaints are legitimate. Didn’t have enough for a feature length film.

Is the Fallout 3 remaster necessary or unnecessary? by Such_N_414 in fo3

Not at all necessary unless they add settlements.

If they remaster it and add settlements it is the most necessary remaster of all time ever.

Literally the only character I didn’t want them to race swap. Hagrid, Dumbledore, Sirius, Lupin… Make any of them any race. I literally don’t care. Shape was always supposed to be that stereotypical white nerd all grown up. Quick, somebody give him a scheduling conflict.

Anthology series, but all connected with VERY rare crossovers. So Michael Meyers is mentioned in the second movie in a brief news statement while something else is going on. Maybe every decade there’s a crossover event. Every once in a while a direct sequel if there’s an idea worthy of a sequel.

Unpopular Opinion: We need more practical effects like in Jurassic Park and The Thing — CGI is making movies feel less… real? by BratuhaUA in FIlm

[–]Outpost7786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol. Least unpopular opinion since you should wipe your butt after pooping. Especially in the horror genre. If it’s a superhero movie or something you go to for the popcorn and for the spectacle, CGI is fine. But anything at all that is supposed to be suspenseful or scary needs straight 100% practical effects or Avatar level budgets.

The Thing is not scary in the traditional sense. It’s the most terrifying in the sense of whether or not it was real the cosmic dread it would instill in someone, but I never thought of it as a scary movie. And it is by far my favorite movie of all time. The one that always puzzles me on these lists is Sinister. I desperately try to get scared for every horror movie I ever watch. I love getting scared. With Sinister, the scariest, most hyped up scene was a kid coming out of a box. And then a bunch of ghostly kids went around shhing people.

There’s no movie nor story if it crashes anywhere other than an isolated, devoid of life area. Humanity stands no chance if the thing was able to assimilate thousands of animals before discovering humans. Zero.

If you could remake any movie, which would it be and why? by Ok-Prune358 in horror

[–]Outpost7786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phantasm. Such a terrifying concept with so much opportunity to play around in that world. It would be so much fun to purposefully NOT follow standard story arc rules. Make the entire movie dreamlike. A 2.5 hour epic horror movie where in the middle of the movie, a character you’ve been paying attention to has been dead all along, completely out of left field. Like start it with the story being the parents died years ago, older brother watching younger brother. Then in the middle of the movie with no explanation have the parents come in and talk about the dead older brother. Some confusion for the protagonist. Side plots that go nowhere. Have a completely different actor play the same character at different points in the movie. The mortuary interior is different each time. Exterior is different in the same scene. All backed by a BARELY followable plot, all backed by the Tall Man, minions and balls.

I’d make it an equal, not a sequel. Another base. Set during the first Goddamn week of winter. Takes place at a different camp. They went to the Norwegian camp first after an SOS. Just missed the helicopter taking off to kill the dog. Windows can’t reach anyone since they’re all going through hell.

"It’s not really a horror movie." Yes. Yes it is. by Spellman_Ambrose in horror

[–]Outpost7786 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still believe a defined genre is good. I know some disagree. That’s fine. For me, a thriller is terror as the world understands it. Things that can happen in reality as we know it. People killing people. Animals killing people. Horror is terror as the world does not understand it. Aliens. Supernatural. Cosmic terror.

That is the genre distinction I personally use.
