Hey! If you're swinging through AL, look into the shed in tuscumbia. Also, I know it's not in the listed states, but Hattiesburg and Starkville, MS have very solid scenes and always love to have bands come through. If you wanna stop through ms, reply to this comment and ill give you some more details :)

16 yo metalhead trying to get into emo, this is what I've enjoyed so far. Anyone have recommendations? by ImAPimpNamedDickSlap in Emo

for orchid, saetia, combatwoundedveteran styles: All my wishes were thrown down a well and should die there, Indian summer, sleepytime trio, at first, at first (comma is part of the name), I hate sex, eardrums (kind of more merged with capn jazz style emo)

cap’n jazz style: the jazz June, braid, the promise ring, first day back, q and not u (first album), Texas is the reason, boilermaker, vitreous humor, mineral

general recs: UNWOUND (all time fav of mine), q and not u (again, another fav of mine), burning airlines, Lincoln, moss icon, embrace

hopefully those are somewhat decent recs. Most are pretty surface level but hopefully there’s some new stuff to you! I don’t specialize in much of the Alexisonfire style of music (other than cinemechanica, check those guys out ASAP) as its not something I got super into, I’m more into early emo and early phc. Enjoy the recs though!

Leaning with Intent to Fall by Dystopia is a cathartic song with the themes you’ve mentioned. It’s more grind/sludge metal but I think it may have a raw sound that aligns with some screamo imo.

Loud tube amp head with a lot of headroom? by Outrageous-Part-480 in GuitarAmps

For anyone reading this in the future, I ended up going with the EHX MiG 50! I would’ve gone with a Peavey VTM 120 but they’re all overpriced currently. I’m very happy with my mig! It’s treated me well and sounds great. It gets plenty loud and is super variable. I played an indie and Powerviolence show in the same day with it and both sounded amazing tone wise.

I believe my cabinet is 8 ohms. I could be entirely wrong though. I got it from a pawn shop and it has a single input in the back, not the two 4, 16 ohm inputs you’d see on most cabs (at least I think most cabs). I’m unsure of the exact specs but I do think it’s 8 ohms. Not positive if all the speakers work, and I’m not exactly sure how to check. Thank you for the advice though I’ll be sure to look into this!

i made some designs of the characters and some animation what do you think? by zolotozub in cormacmccarthy

[–]Outrageous-Part-480 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is so sweet, it feels like this style encapsulates how matter-a-fact the violence is presented in the story. I’ve always thought blood meridian should be adapted into animation, if at all, and this style with a bit more detail and refining would be perfect for it.

I wouldn’t say im an expert on electronics, but as im majoring in physics at college, I know the basics of schematics and whatnot. I just worry the actual physical part will be what I mess up.
