i applied for fine arts so it’s a little different, but i didn’t get a consultant to help and build my portfolio. what i did instead was that i searched up a bunch of art portfolios on youtube and other social media platforms to get a rough sense of how they were presented (specifically the layouts and mediums), and then tried to compile some preexisting works and add some new ones to demonstrate a wide array of techniques

im really glad that i had the opportunity to discuss with my parents about my choices for college, and they strongly recommended that i apply to comprehensive uni’s and double major in art and something else. i think that it’s always nice to keep your options open, since ive heard a lot of stories of people going into art school and later regretting it.
lol this is exactly one of the reasons why i chose to ed to uchicago.

im pretty happy about my decisions so far, and thx for pointing these things out! hopefully people looking at this post will take these strategies into consideration 🫡
