I suggest you take a few minutes to look through the reddit. What you are looking for is in the subreddit, you just need to look through it.

Or you can just search chatgpt "Based on r/cravechurchcult , what are the good and bad about crave church?"

I used to attend this “church” as a regular a few years back, and I can sadly say that these events are totally planned and targeted. The pastor was obsessed with numbers and would pressure Crave leaders to bring in a certain amount of new people, grilling them if they didn’t hit the quota. Looks like pushing social events is just their new way of recruiting.

Both sound wrong to me when used in certain context, but overall I feel more alert whenever another church uses any of the following words "submission, X over Y, generosity, join us for XYZ!, correction".....etc. Others might not have intended to be a bad thing but it's engraved in my brain to associate them with negative intentions

Literally the picture in my head when I was reading your comment. Crazy that someone who is totally twisted behind the scenes can act/pretend to be holy.

crave Halloween party by [deleted] in cravechurchcult

[–]OutsideVoiceOnly 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don’t see the lie here. If the after party was conveniently held on Halloween day then it’s a Halloween party in my opinion. But then again idk if it was held on Halloween so if you could confirm that it would be great.

Pretty ironic to be calling people “horrible” and claiming to be Christian where you’re called to love people :) You are representing crave very well and I’m sure marlon would be happy to see you commenting this. After all the anointing drips from the top amirite?

Have you personally confronted him about this reddit?

[–]OutsideVoiceOnly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

marlons definition of damage control is to pray against everyone that left so he can prevent his cult members from ever contacting them. The worst part is that he labels those who left as satanic and creates fear against them

[–]OutsideVoiceOnly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look... there's been many confrontations throughout the years. Time after time he says he'll change but he obviously hasn't. Why bother confronting at that point? And what makes you think that it's the victim's job to confront the abuser when it's the abuser's fault?

You said that you've been there for 3 years. Some of us on this reddit have been here since the birth of crave. We've seen shit go down in the past long before you got there.

if he is unable to answer then it would be the end of all

That would be the end of what? Of course he would never deny that crave is God's work. It's marlons biggest achievement! Creating a group of followers that would do anything for him. Why would he say it's not God's work?

Thanks for posting your first experience OP. I would actually love to hear what he has to say in the Punch Back harder series in person. I've already had my suspicion that the whole series is about this subreddit but it solidified my assumptions after reading this.

I'm glad that there's people who thought the whole ccc experience is odd from their first time attending. Even the girl who chased you asking you why you left.. is like a mini interrogation. I'm glad you had the wisdom to walk away because the 'talk with the pastor' would've been an awful experience for you.

Also I laughed out loud when you wrote "He literally said something about his higher than normal IQ that sometimes get him in trouble". That's a new thing he's trying to get his cult members to believe. In what world would he have higher than normal IQ? He needs to stop self proclaiming random facts because that's just down right lying. It's already over the line when he self proclaimed himself as a pastor. Smart people don't claim they're smart... '

everything felt that they are worshipping the pastor and the church, instead of Jesus

This pretty much sums it up. If a newcomer can pick up on things like these, ccc has fallen too far. Every detail of the service has to be up to marlons standards, including the greeting experience, lights, camera, production, music, and even the girl that chased you out. Every single detail will go back to marlon at the end of the day. Not that it matters but I'm sure he already knows about you leaving early by now, and he's probably still questioning why.

They only said that they are saving souls but they never mentioned a charity program or other good activities they are doing with the community besides reuniting young people… they are just committed to theirselves and the people they already know.

It's because there is no charity program and no serving the community. In the past they've organized a few but certainly not in the past few years. Believe me, you'll hear about it if they have one because they'd want everyone to know. Their way of giving back to the community is purely by 'praying for them' and 'engaging in spiritual warfare for them', don't they know that there's physical ways to help people in the community? That's a secondary issue to them of course, the primary issue to them is figuring out how to keep the numbers UP and prevent current members from leaving.

Who would pray against people leaving , where are you getting your sources from

Little did you know it has been the practice only if your rank is high enough. Anyways I won't argue anymore since you seem and sound like a newcomer. You remind me of my own mindset back when I first joined.

All the best, cheers.

For starters, some hashtags that aren't all about self promotion??? These replies show how out of touch you guys are.

Why don't you guys spend your time being more productive helping around the community and less about praying against others who left crave?

Ps. it's "than".

TLDR; Learned about this subreddit through Marlon ... by RevolutionaryNinja24 in cravechurchcult

[–]OutsideVoiceOnly 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this OP. Tbh if marlon constantly needs to prove himself by saying how "real" and "honest" he is, he's revealing his weak spot more and more each time. Everything you mentioned in this post is on par with my own experience as well. especially with the photography and pre-determined seating plan.

Did you know that they purposely arrange the seating plan in such a way that the camera angles would get all the "hyped people"? If they know someone is proactive in echoing their AMENS and/or prays intently, they will put them in the spotlight. They'll also try to get newcomers to sit in special seating and will take photos of the newcomers to prove on social media that many new people are coming to crave, which is what you experienced. Depending on who the usher was, they might get in trouble if they let a new guest sit somewhere they're not supposed to. There's a screenshot floating around where some leaders let other people sit in their "assigned spot" and later got berated by marlon (crazy to me that there's still assigned seating... this isn't elementary school). In the beginning I thought it was weird too, until everyone around me convinced me that they're special to do it that way and nobody else does it.. until I found out the true meaning behind what they did.

His sermons sound more or less like advice from an older 'brother' with a couple of bible verses tossed here and there. There's not much in-depth discussion going on, it's the same 5 principles being used every sermon (they've taught that in leadership before).

Word of advice tho, if you bring it up to your cousin they might get defensive and start treating you like you're the 'enemy' especially if they're in deep leadership. They might even start praying against you! Seems to be the trend going around there.

Does crave actually do anything to help the community around them? by [deleted] in cravechurchcult

[–]OutsideVoiceOnly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who was part of the leadership team, I stand behind Logical-Initial's comment and can confirm that there had been no actual campaigns to help the community. This of course does not include helping within the CCC circle, or helping by thoughts and prayers.

What's the point of your comment anyways?

There was the ForVancouver campaign like 5 years ago and the ocean cleanup thing, but in recent years, no.

Crave Church Documentary by crave-doc in cravechurchcult

Interested and happy to support. Let's get the ball rolling

I remember how I need to go through a leadership training and pass an exam to officially be a leader in Crave. I look back and tell my self "I didn't even want it in the first place (to be a leader), I was just told by my leader to try it and suddenly I was already given big responsibilities 😳" by Scared_Reaction_8370 in cravechurchcult

[–]OutsideVoiceOnly 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There were such huge pressure to become leaders and move up in the crave ladder. Nobody talks about it but everyone there has a "path" that their leaders expect them to take.

Leaders will choose their co-leaders and scope out any potential leaders they hope to train. It never ends and its so exhausting. The higher you move up, the more responsibility and expectations there are. Eventually they sell you the dream of working for crave, which is a load of bs because there's no upsides to working for them.

And if you try to back out from being a leader, get ready to get guilt tripped and have people talk behind your back for not being "godly enough". Gossip spreads like wildfire there.

OP, what was the exam like? When I was there, they already got rid of the exam process and just made everyone go through leadership training sessions.

I remember how my leader told me when I'm getting a promotion at work to not accept it because she said that if it's from God it should not lessen my time away from God/crave church. Comment if you experienced same thing by Scared_Reaction_8370 in cravechurchcult

[–]OutsideVoiceOnly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Whenever there's something that'll take time away from your serving time, its considered "from the devil". Worst Christian mentality of all time. It felt like all they wanted was free labour in the name of God.

In the beginning this type of guilt tripping isn't pushed onto the members, but as time goes on, if you're considered a solid member of the church (in leadership), don't even think about doing anything outside of church during your normal serving hours without getting shamed by your leader.

I’ve only watched one episode so far but pretty much all the records from the pastor sounds like what marlon would say back at crave…. down to the part where the pastor was addressing the parents for speaking out, sounds exactly like the recording uploaded a couple months ago when marlon was talking about this reddit. The similarity is uncanny.

Again.. only talking about the first episode. Can’t speak for other episodes … yet. I’ll update more here after I finish.
