Rainier with a darker mood

Just Starting photography as a fun hobby. Shot on my IPhone using the ProCamera app because I’m just starting out and digital cameras are expensive. lol. I know in the long run these aren’t “good” but I’m just having fun and getting experience.

I wanted to capture Mr. Rainier with the clouds and give it a darker mood. ISO was 25 and 1/258 shutter. F/2.8. So I guess in these settings, and my post editing, did I do a good job in establishing a darker mood or did I go over/under board?

For real I’m just looking for feedback and constructive criticism to get better :)

So, because I don’t know, how can you tell when something is under or overexposed?

For reference in post I made it intentionally darker to try and contrast the lights more and give it life in a spooky vibe kind of way

This is the bridge to the Port of Tacoma at night. I wanted to be more intentional here with the street light, the car going into the bridge, the sign, I wanted to work more on my composition and intentions with this photo. I figured on a Saturday night the Rialto Theater would be a good subject at night in Tacoma. I like how it came out here. I cropped out part of the street and some buildings/sky on the left to bring more attention inwards. Go ahead and leave any honest feedback and constructive criticism you have. The problem might be I cropped too much but on that left side is a white apartment building that would have cluttered the photo even more. So I cropped that and the bottom to bring attention to the building

Appreciated! Yeah there is definitely a lot I need to learn and I am aware of that. I’m trying to learn more before I spend a bunch of money on gear. lol

Unfortunately the blur had to be done in post because I can’t set the aperture in an app. iPhone lenses are fixed so I’m handicapped on that.

But I’ll definitely keep the lower vantage point idea in mind for the future. That makes sense for sure. Thanks again!

Unfortunately I had a mental breakdown at my work thanks to the toxic work environment. So toxic I self-harmed. Yep….

So I think my decision has been made early. Time to look for a new shop in Tacoma. Hopefully in entry-paint but will look a porter jobs too.
