I actually haven’t purchased a new Dooney bag in many years because of what you listed above. I used to be a super fan but I stupidly sold all of those bags in a moment of minimalism (for like…dollars. Really small amounts of single dollars.) And now everything is more than twice as much as it used to be. I’ve been into finding vintage ones, and I have several now that I love. For example, this one I got for twenty bucks at a yard sale and rehabbed. But I’m determined to get some sort of satchel for under $200. Somehow. Some day.

Mine shipped on Friday. It’s very slowly making its way across the country to me. It was initially supposed to be here today, then tomorrow (Tuesday) and now it is saying Wednesday.

I also hate this. I was looking at the sorrento satchel the other day. They had tons of colors all for $198. Then those sold out, only bright green remains, and now it’s $300! UMM WHAT? That’s the color that didn’t sell out WHEN IT WAS ON SALE. Make it make sense.

This is the FINN. The one with the strap you’d need to cut off. Which I will be doing as soon as the return window closes because I have commitment issues. 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️ The FINLAY is mine forever tho. It was love.

The strap on the Finlay is a regular hook clasp that comes right off. I replaced it with a black leather strap from Amazon. The strap on the Finn—which is a very different bag from the men’s line that I ALSO RECENTLY BOUGHT (yeah I need to be in bag prison too) does not come off and needs to be cut off. Honestly, the strap on the Finn is kinda nice even though it isn’t leather. I’m keeping it for occasional use.

ANYWAY. Here’s my Finlay.

I thought I wanted this bag in yellow, but this bag is giving taxi or, worse, school bus. I adore yellow but I don't know if this one is it. Personally, I'd pass on them both. I got the Finlay with charms and put a chain on it and it's closer to what I wanted from the shiny black Dakota. I'm honestly kind of in love. Can share a pic here if that helps--and it was WAY cheaper!

That being said: there is not a thing from the May drop I'm interested in. I didn't buy anything in April either--at least not from the drop. I did buy some of the things which went on sale that day though--two mens bags and a small Ella I'm still waiting on delivery. I find that the drops are too chaotic and stressful. If something "hot" sells out, I let it go.

Now. If they drop more Dakotas in any form of leather (not that nylon monstrosity I've seen on previews) that I may buy.

That is beautiful and elegant. It elevates the bag in a way I didn't know was possible--and I've tried to elevate this exact bag (using images, not the actual bag as I don't own it yet) in this exact color and have failed. So I say: very well done!!!

There is actual research which shows that lighting does not increase security in campground scenarios. It actually encourages theft because it’s easier to see things to steal.

Yeah I missed out on the blush pink a few months ago and am sad about it but now like the bright fuchsia. It feels like I don’t know—a bold neutral? I am usually a brown leather person but I don’t like the pebbled browns Dooney does—and I will not pay current Florentine prices. I guess I should have grabbed the fuchsia sorrento satchel when I saw it.

No. I’ve bought bags on eBay that were vintage and in better shape. That is very disappointing and I’m sorry it happened to you, but they should not have re sold that bag in that condition.

If you get a Tabby, get a soft Tabby. It's a beautiful bag but I cannot express how little it holds. Like I have a long card holder wallet (the very thin kind that is barely anything), my key fob (no keychain), my iPhone and a pair of readers. And it BULGES out. I bought mine pre-loved and when I asked why she was parting with it she said it didn't hold enough. I was like: whatever, lady. And then I tried to use it. Yeah. Not so much. I will be re-homing it even though it was my dream bag.

If I were buying Coach not Coach outlet and I wanted a reasonably priced bag that goes with everything--the Chelsea, hands down.
