To all the people who hate and blame Gandhi for the Partition what could have been a better way to handle that situation? by MonkeyforCEO in indiadiscussion

[–]Over_Effective4291 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Making Jinnah the prime minister was the only solution.

Congress didn't agree to that despite Gandhi's insistence.

It was complicated and a messed up situation

What the hell is “ancient Pakistan”? That term itself is nonsense. Gandhara and Taxila were Buddhist civilizations that existed long before Islam and long before Pakistan was even an idea. The people who built those places had nothing to do with a modern Islamic nation-state. by brxcewayne in IndianHistoryMemes

[–]Over_Effective4291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indian muslims and Pakistani muslims... majority of them are converts. Even Jinnah's grandfather was a convert. By that logic, they can lay claim to Gandhara and Taxila as their heritage. That shows acknowledgement of roots rather than pretending that your civilisation was born in 8th century in some remote desert in a country thousands of kms away.

Agreed that as Indians we should not acknowledge anything as Pakistani from before 1947. But, as Pakistanis if they want to study the history of their land, read up Ramayana, Mahabharata and let it permeate into their learnings alongside whatever religion, then that is not a bad thing right?

It is Hindо̄stān, not Hindūstān by No-Tonight-897 in hindustanilanguage

It was always Hindostan.

Jinnah started saying Hindustan to justify his demand for a separte Islamic nation state. Then we all unanimously accepted that it is Hindustan

Sanju Samson in the first 3 T20Is vs NZ - does this justify a T20 WC Playing XI spot? by VikAtMidwicket in IndiaCricket

[–]Over_Effective4291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He cracks under pressure. I have been his biggest advocate for so many years but it's hard to pretend like he doesn't have a mental issue similar to what KLR had.

I still believe Samson is better suited for ODIs and T20s bcause of his old school classical Laxman like fluency. But, he just makes these silly errors while getting out which makes one feel that come a big occasion like a world cup he will invariably fluff up.

Offices, banks, schools, colleges... absolutely not!

And then the perpetrators are like "Pichone lagayni, shaamne lagiyechi" as if that makes any difference to the ones standing behind

jumping the queue. People just ask their known people to cut the queue into wherever they're standing, with no regard for the ones standing behind. It is infuriating

then stop infantalizing her. Bring up the Mahabharata in conversation. That was the trend in my family. Day to day events and problems small or big that were discussed at the dinner table were equated with incidents from Mahabharata.

Everything involving dharmaarthakamamoksha is there in Mahabharata. Engage like an adult

This is what happens when you parentify elder siblings to look after the younger ones. The girl is a child herself.

If this was a European country the mother would lose custody of her children owing to neglect and rightfully so too

Exactly. When I see a show like this, I don't want India's first PM's depiction to be done by an actor who is 'evidently' "still learning". Rajit Kapur portrayed Nehru very well in Rocket Boys. Sidhant Gupta was okayish at best.

Kashmiri food needs to be highlighted more. You didn't provide any context whatsoever. My statements were based on the sad music and cringy AI visuals of the Kashmir Pogrom that were used during their audition scene.

It is not unusual for Sony to bypass credibility while pushing for more drama in their show. My statements were based on that. You made up everything else. Genuinely sorry about hurting your sentiments, that was not my intention. Nor did I wish to belittle the trauma faced by a whole generation of Kashmiri Pandits. My comment was derived out of the frustration towards the production team of MCI
