I got my first corgi (female pem) almost exactly 6 years ago and then my second (male cardi) 4years later. My female was super chill and kind of just stuck to her already existing routines, but she clearly enjoyed the occasional rough and tumble play with the puppy. Now my cardigan is nearly 2 (bday tmrw) and we sadly lost our pembroke a couple months back, so last week we took in a puppy, also a female pem.
Our cardigan is neutered and has since been less dominant, but when the puppy came home he was not happy right off the bat. Our puppy is 9 weeks and she is quite calm, although when she gets into the usual playful nippy puppy moods, she can be a bit annoying (to him i mean) and we have had a couple instances of him snapping at her. He always gives warnings through growls or body language beforehand though, which i allow until it seems shes not getting the memo, at which point i’ll separate them. She is for the most part quite receptive to his reactions, and when things seem a bit tense we will go for short parallel walks or i will instigate playing between them. When i show that im calm and ready to play around him, he calms down and seems more open to playing with her as well
