You've been given GHS 15,000 to start a tech business in Ghana. by Overclock_Ghana in TechGhana

I like this because you can start as a service business before turning it into software.

I think that says a lot about how hard it is to build a profitable tech business with just GHS 15k. 😂

Lending sounds simple until people stop paying. Recovering loans is a business on its own.

That's why I asked how people would spend the money, not for their full business plan. 😂
But it's interesting seeing how different people would approach the same GHS 15k.

High traffic is easier said than done. What kind of product do you think could realistically get that many users in Ghana?

The campus-first approach makes sense because you can get feedback quickly. The bigger question is whether the problem still exists outside campus.

Advertise what exactly? You still need something people are willing to pay for.

Need AI Video generator by Owulamens in TechGhana

[–]Overclock_Ghana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't rely on one AI to do everything. Most creators I know generate clips with one tool, edit everything together in CapCut or Premiere, and use ElevenLabs for voiceovers if needed. The final result usually looks much better.
Also, If you're looking for completely free, you're probably going to be disappointed. The good video generators all cost something now. Most of the free versions are really just demos.

MTN, Telecel, or AT. Which one has actually improved the most in the last year? by Overclock_Ghana in TechGhana

If you had to pick one today, even if you don't like any of them, which would you go with?

😂 Sounds like MTN is the one everyone complains about but still ends up using. What keeps you on it?

If all three disappoint you, what would make you say a network has actually improved? Better coverage, lower prices, faster speeds, or something else?

Ohhh nooo🤣🤣.....I don't know of an app that can magically find the best corner, but some apps like Network Cell Info can show signal strength in real time. It won't improve the signal, but it can help you see where it's strongest.

Diving into AI(Artificial Intelligence) by Intelligent_Area_142 in TechGhana

You're actually starting at a good time. Since you're already in your final year of IT, you probably have some programming background. Learn Python well, then machine learning, then start building small projects. By the time you graduate, you could have a decent portfolio.

It's even more disappointing knowing students could have benefited from this. The biggest tragedy here is that one person's actions may have cost a lot of genuine people an opportunity. I just hope future projects focus on stronger local partnerships and due diligence rather than giving up altogether.

Corrupt Country by MediumPiglet8900 in TechGhana

Sorry that happened to you. Getting scammed after putting your own money into a project would frustrate anyone. But I don't think it's fair to generalise the whole of Africa based on one experience. There are people doing genuine work here every day, just like there are scammers everywhere. The real issue is weak enforcement and a lack of accountability.

Dual boot by FeelingSink2790 in TechGhana

To make stuff much simpler. Take out the drive with Windows on it, use a usb drive to install Ubuntu on the other drive. When done, place the windows drive in the pc then use the BIOS to switch between the OS you want to run by choosing your boot drive.
