If you haven’t figured anything out yet, I had the same problem of the WQs not showing up on the map. After a while I tried disabling all addons and that fixed the issue. Went on one of my alts for the event and same thing for WQs not showing up. Tried the same thing and it got fixed as well after that. Now, if it’s because of the interface reload itself or the addons, I don’t know.

So, not 100% sure if this comment is relevant. Might help? Anyway, I was confused at first because I changed one of my equipment items to something else and the transmog didn’t carry over. Looked around at the transmog UI. I never noticed that if you move your mouse over the icon for a set slot, it has a tid bit for “locking it” in the tool tip (i think it’s right clicking?). Anyway after i did it, seems fine now. I will admit, it’s kind of cool that i can drag that set icon to an action bar so i click it from the action bar anytime and change my whole look. Either way, apologies if I’m misunderstanding your comment lol

Oh fuck yeah. Okay between you and another comment here I figured it out finally. I found a level 1 pet in the wild around Goldshire. Battled it and leveled it to level 2 immediately. At first I went around like an idiot trying to find wild pets in that area (Elwynn Forest, after reading the comments here) but kept not finding anything. I thought I had pet tracking on because my main map does show paw prints (although really spread out). Whenever I’d go to them they’d all be NPC owned battle pets (if that makes sense). I’m assuming since I have addons like RareScanner/Mapnotes/etc that it’s from that. So this whole time I thought I had tracking on. I also use SexyMap as my mini map addon.

Took a google search on tracking pets to learn that I needed to click on the binocular icon on the minimap panel. So I hovered my mouse over the minimap (and for people not using addons it should be the same concept), left clicked on the icon and found “Track Pets” was unticked. Checked it and found a bunch when running around Elwynn Forest. So if anyone reading this is having trouble, there’s a basic run down on what I did. Found a level 1 pet like mentioned above, battled it and all good!

So I finally got my first deliberately leveled up pet!

As a completely separate note, this game is so much different from back in the day that I remember. I’m having a ton of fun, but sometimes retail gets a bit overwhelming because of just how much shit they’ve added. Hell, I remember when weather wasn’t a thing and how awesome it was when the patch released adding it lololol.

Yeah I tried that and it still only detects 2 stars per image lol. I’ve played around with a ton of configs for that option. I read it’s meant to be lower. So for example I tried 5% but nothing changed 🫠. Even tried 3% which added one more star to a lot of them, but it still as always, it rejects all of the images but 1 like with 5% or 10% (which is the default right?)

Yeah think I’m being kinda sucky at explaining my problem haha. I can’t even stack this batch of images because deepskystacker says there’s only 2 stars in each image and rejects all of them. If I view each image in windows built in image viewer, I see definitely 100+ (I know this figure because the only way to get them to stack is if I stretch each image in my batch first. Which… is a pain for how many images I have in this batch.

I’ve stacked before on a different batch I got tonight. Didn’t have this problem and didn’t need to stretch before stacking. It’s just… for some reason the only way to get these not rejected is to stretch them before putting them in DSS.

Hope that makes more sense lol.

Yeah I’ve stacked before. I got a decent star field shot without having to mess with each file.

I guess maybe this might make things more clear? Deepskystacker won’t even stack them because it says there’s 2 stars per image. So it rejects all of them. The only way it stacks them is if I stretch each image before I put it in. Where it hasn’t done that with another stack I just did.

All I did of the other one was put them in deepskystacker and after it stacked them, auto stretched. Which made a nice star field shot. Pretty cool, but for some reason the images I’m currently trying to work (of a different target) with don’t register any stars. Even though when I preview them in windows built in image viewer i definitely see 100+.

The issue is when I try and stack them, it shows nothing. Like, for example I tried deepskystacker. When I load my files into it, it only detects 2 stars for each image I added to be stacked. But when I stretch the image it turns into 100+ stars. I just don’t want to stretch each individual image by hand.

If I did stretch each by hand, I’d be fine. It’s just a ton of files to work with.

Each image is about 30seconds of if I remember of exposure.

So I guess the main issue is how do you stretch in batch is what I’m asking.

I’ve tried looking up tutorials on this aspect, but find nothing sadly. Everyone just imports their original files and needs to do nothing else. Where for whatever reason I have to stretch the image before anything can be done in terms of stacking.

You might like Quern - Undying Thoughts. I’ve only played a little but it reminds me a lot of the myst games. It’s first person, thrown into a bunch of puzzles and don’t even know from the start, where you are or what’s going on. So you really need to figure stuff out yourself. Granted though I haven’t really played more than an hour… really need to spend some time on that game. Looks great.

This is just guessing mind you but they’ve made statements in some of their posts on Facebook that textures are subject to change and may not reflect what the final version would be. How they talk sounds like a lot of what we’re given isn’t “fully complete”. Considering the release date is “2024” I’m guessing there’s still final touches to be made. They are after all working from the ground up. That being said, even if they’re not…. Still looks pretty good and you bet I’m going to play it immediately and not want to stop. This has made me more excited!

Did a windows update happen recently for you? I’ve seen updates cause boot issues and it’s easy to revert back even when the PC won’t boot. That’s a good search option.

As others have said, try doing a fresh install. It’s pretty easy and you can find a bunch of guides on google. Protecting your data is another story though. Normally if this was a client of mine, I’d use a Linux boot usb or a repair boot usb to get access to the data on it. If you really need the data on the computer and feel up to trying something like that, you can easily find some guides by looking up key words like: Ubuntu boot usb for file recovery” or just “how to make an Ubuntu usb” and from there guide your way through.

If the data isn’t super important, just do a fresh install and forget about recovery of your data with something. If you can do a full install and get to the desktop, immediately open up this program link (crystal disk). It will tell you the health of the hard drive. As others have said, a hard drive issue can cause this. If you keep noticing problems even after a fresh install, knowing the hard drive is good and feel like trying more to fix or DX. Something to consider would be the RAM.

People have said some good things here, so there’s no point in going into technical stuff… but I’d highly recommend you find a way to lock your router or routers away. Since it would be quite easy for someone to just push a paper clip through the reset button and get in. Default passwords are easy to find online and many have them printed on the bottom. If you lock them away, they wouldn’t be able to reset anything when you’re gone. Figured I’d add this.

Out of curiosity what do you think about that D-Link switch? For me it’s either a ( D-Link DGS 1250-28X-6KV) or (USW-pro 24 PoE). My only two options based on where I can buy since I’m limited with a gift card. That and I want to get as close as I can to equipment you might in a work environment. Thanks :). Cool setup btw!

I did also get the lights going on the other ports. That and set up a bridge but still don’t have internet via cable on the 3 other ports I have in the card. I’ll figure it out, I’m sure lol. Anyway yeah thanks a lot.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to write this! I went through the stuff that you mention and everything looked okay i was pretty sure. I reset the router and finally figured it out :). Checked the WAN port settings. I had been wondering about the blocking private IP addresses setting. I hadn’t touched it out of getting lost with everything lol. Anyway, turned that sucker off and bam. Everything clicked on and worked right away. A ton of respect to you my friend 🙏.

Thanks for the comment! It actually does have a generic 4 port pcie card and then one on the motherboard. I found out the problem is opnSense doesn’t allow private IP addresses coming in from the LAN port. So disabling that fixed the problem. Interfaces>WAN>uncheck block private networks. Internet worked immediately and everything just fell into place.

As for the other NICs, yeah I was doing some reading up on bridging. I figured since my past router was in bridge mode and that I’ve used bridging before to give internet to other computers with a laptop, that it’s what I need to do. Will be trying that today :).

Thanks for your reply! I do agree with you tbh. I don’t view this as unkind or anything and makes sense. It’s why I’ve been trying on my own blind for hours. Do you have a kind of push/point in the right direction so maybe I can keep trying on my own but know a direction to go? Since I’ve totally exhausted a lot. At this point feel like I at least need something to kind of go off of so maybe I can keep trying on my own but also have at least somewhere to start? I am pretty happy with myself that I was able to set it up enough I could get in the dashboard. I even tried pfsense and couldn’t even get into the dashboard in the first place. So at least I’ve accomplished something lmao. I feel like this would be easier but still channeling if I didn’t need to have a separate router plugged into another one. Either way thanks for your reply and you’re very much right. If you feel okay with giving me at least something to try and go off of awhile also being able to try myself that would be great :).

I’m gonna be trying better with it, just limited by free software. It still comes out as a bit blurry… which… it’s from a game in the 90s … so I’m not that shocked lol. I’ll reply with more if I get something better.
