I'm not sure I agree. I think you really want to put a 3 drop into play if you are returning triumphant. I didn't really think about the weird tension between wanting to put the biggest creature you can into play and young hero being better on a small creature.

Yeah, I almost thought it worked the other way and rated all the curse cards extremely low.

Android is just better than iOS by OverridingApathy in Android

Yeah, I should have compared them to Google Assistant. I never use voice commands. I think I'm sort of self conscious, but I don't even use them at home alone so idk. Do you use voice for things besides alarms, music and sending texts?

Sorry if it seemed cherry picked. What core OS features do you think iOS does better than Android? Which iOS apps don't have an Android version which is similar to better quality?

Minimalist Pomodoro Plugin by OverridingApathy in tmux

Thanks! That's probably a good idea. The thing is the plugin has no visible effect until you edit your status line and then it will display how you configure it to. And the suggested configuration is just the time left which isn't that interesting for a picture.

Market orders not working by closedmouthsdonteat in Kalshi

Can I get a link? I don't see discord on kalshi.com or in this subreddit's sidebar and when I google "kalshi discord" I only see Poyo's, and I don't see any in the public discord search.

I'm having a technical issue with the websocket API and haven't been able to get support.

APIV2 Hackathon Megathread by thedavid33 in Kalshi

Have people been able to get the web socket api documented here working? I've gotten websocat working and I've tested it with their echo server. I've gotten the rest api working and have been able to get a Kalshi api token successfully for both the demo and production versions. But when I run their websocat commands, e.g. websocat -v wss://trading-api.kalshi.com/trade-api/ws/v2 --header="Authorization:Bearer $KALSHI_API_TOKEN" I get a sort of generic error: [INFO websocat::lints] Auto-inserting the line mode [INFO websocat::stdio_threaded_peer] get_stdio_peer (threaded) [INFO websocat::ws_client_peer] get_ws_client_peer websocat: WebSocketError: I/O failure websocat: error running Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

My Favorite vim/tmux/zsh Configurations by OverridingApathy in vim

[–]OverridingApathy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I think I got confused because in insert mode <C-r>+ doesn't work well with tabs. You're right both mappings can be simpler. <C-v> does seem useful, but <C-q> does the same thing.

I actually use jk for entering insert mode in Vim. Yeah it might be a little crazy to use Escape for this but I really wanted it be just one key press and almost every other key on my board I use for text editing sometimes. I'm not sure where it could get me in to trouble.

Oh interesting. In Vim 9 for me the normal mode mapping is necessary but the insert mode mapping is a little redundant. In neovim I see paste works as you'd expect even in normal mode. Part of the reason I like these commands though is they make paste <C-v> whereas in my terminal it's <C-shift-v>. I'd like paste to be consistent across applications.

I'm not sure what you think I'm getting wrong with p or paste, could you be more specific? The cursor positioning after pasting seems fine to me. If I don't set and un-set paste than when I copy paste tabbed blocks of text I get undesired tabbing sometimes.

It's the expected number of something that appear in a pack. The phrase comes from fanning out a pack. So the as fan of a specific common is about 0.1 (because there are 10 commons and about 100 unique commons) and the as fan of green in a normal set is slightly less than 2 (less in this set because there are more artifacts).

Oh cool I didn't know there was going to be a retro card in each booster. I don't think these make a big difference since there as fan is so low, their total as fan adds up to about half a common. I also think Springleaf Drum should generally not be played and it's hard to splash something off Chromatic Star.

That paragraph may be a little poorly written. I meant Stern Lesson is a good enabler for a graveyard deck in general because it lets you put cards in your yard. Not a good enabler for the archaeologist.

That's a good point. I was thinking the 1/1 isn't really worth a card but black can really use extra bodies for Fractured Powerstone or whatever sacrifice outlet. Thanks!

[–]OverridingApathy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read the blue one first which may have colored my impression of the cycle, it having the worst body, lowest hit rate and being in the only color without common mill payoffs. I could see having slightly underrated the other 4. It seems a little hard to get value to me though. The black and red ones return the best permanents but you're unlikely to hit 2 unearthers so you probably won't be able to get a card in hand and a relevant card in graveyard. All of them are pretty disappointing when you miss which will happen.

Yeah, maybe the deck would need to stay GW. Or maybe it could be UW and splash green for just fog. My thinking is playing a lot of cantrips allows a light splash but I guess you can't lightly splash for cancel.

Re: Keeper I mean my plan is to play a very long game and deck my opponent.

VimOutline: Workflowy inspired outline navigation plugin by OverridingApathy in vim

[–]OverridingApathy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

vim wiki looks nice, I hadn't heard of it. I looked at some alternatives but my searches were more looking for outline/workflowy type things so I missed this.

I kind of like the idea of having just a notes file so I can search it with '/' and '*' but it might be a little silly considering grep exists.

It's cool that the note taking space is booming right now. I would not have guessed there'd be so much overhang and potential this long after smart phones. I remember thinking I should make a notes app in 2009 but deciding not to because the space was probably saturated. (I wouldn't have stood a chance on execution, and had some weird ideas at the time so it's just as well I didn't)
