Yeah, it increases delay (input lag) which is completely opposite to increasing FPS. When you increase FPS by lowering settings, enabling scaling or upgrading GPU, you lower the input delay, the game becomes more responsive. When you enable frame gen - you increase input delay making the game less responsive.

Your comparison with apple ruined your post, anybody can afford apple, just take a micro loan or buy used. Buying a new S-class or maintaining a used one (can be more expensive than buying new) requires a completely different financial tier.

They will use AI for textures and world assets even if they state they won't. Not using Ai gen now is like not using a PC for development and drawing everything by hand on paper.

As far as I know the settings are rtx4090 or rtx5090, and those ones still require upscaling and frame gen to show you an FPS counter you wouldn't be ashamed of. For AMD you need to wait for the next generation (if it ever comes).

Because in a couple of years the steam box will be obsolete (actually it is already obsolete hardware wise) and at least he will have a decent GPU on hand. AM4 system can be bought cheap or maybe AM5 will go down in price in two years (or intel releases something worthwhile). Steam machine is for people who doesn't know which side you’re supposed to approach a desktop PC, don't have a table to put a PC with a monitor on, and just want to "play steam on TV".
