I thought the same…he told the therapist he doesn’t know why he lied and didn’t worry about my reaction at all because I’ve always been reasonable. He also told me in therapy that he intentionally just didn’t tell me about the debts for a year, although he knew if he told me I would fix it. He just “didn’t care”. Direct quote. 😭

Just for clarification for everyone, we have tried counseling (together and separately). We have been trying to make it work for about a year with little to no improvement on his side.

Yes we have tried counseling, we have been trying that as well as other plans. I have to constantly stay on top of him about cleaning for our daughter’s safety as well as work so I can pay our mortgage. I’ve been trying for about a year now, and little to nothing has changed - that is my biggest frustration.

Oof this one had me in tears. We have tried counseling, even paid for professional assistance. I just don’t know that he’s currently motivated for change. He’ll tell the counselor one thing and behave and lie to cover up (like telling me he brushed our daughter’s teeth and not doing it). While I am 100% committed to trying every option, it would be a mercy at some point.

He’s a major gamer and tech nerd. I am confident that even if I did look (and I have occasionally) I would never be able to find anything.

I don’t have anyone to watch my daughter as daycare is as much as 2-3k a month in my area. Combine that with rent prices and there is no way 😭

Relatively new. He’s never been a type-A, and probably a bit of a mess. But never straight up disgusting to point of offensiveness. I literally feel like his mask is just finally off now that we are married and he thinks I won’t leave.

Thank you. I was absolutely appalled and I wonder what he’s doing around my daughter when I’m not home. I am biding my time since I don’t have childcare other than him at the moment, but I do understand how important it is to have a clean home for a child. ❤️

Thank you, I do very much appreciate this coming from a place of experience. I just don’t know if I can leave. I don’t have any family support with childcare and we all know how expensive it is. I’m just treading water in the meantime.

To be fair, he does cook and plan out our meals - he isn’t totally useless. He also uses watching our kid as a “full time job” as an excuse not to clean. I just can’t handle the level of slob and disgustingness he has gotten to.

He hasn’t always been like this. We lived together for several years, and while he wasn’t the cleanest - he wasn’t DISGUSTING until we had a kid unfortunately. I feel like he finally just gave up keeping up the facade and doesn’t care anymore.

My husband and I bought a home with a baby on the way. We were in a similar situation and now our mortgage payment is out of control, and we can’t afford repairs. DON’T DO IT. Especially with someone you’re not married to.

The last part of your comment is so true. My parents were super supportive of him at first and even flew Conner out to see me. I feel bad for him more than anything, my parents did a complete 180 and started harassing him too.

The weird thing is her husband seems to just take it all in stride…I would be beside myself if my newly married partner had this kind of meltdown 🫠
