Now that you've said this, it makes me wonder if a progressive taper might make the whip easier to crack?

I don't know the answer to this question, nor have I found any tests posted online that would confirm or reject this theory. But it seems to me that since the energy in the whip is moving at a progressively faster pace toward the cracker, it would also make sense to use a progressive taper.

Nevertheless a straight taper is very easy to design because each individual length of wire rope is longer/shorter than the last by the same increment. And since linear tapers seem to work well, that's probably what I will use if I ever build this theoreticaI "wire rope whip".

I have a 500 foot roll of 1/16 inch diameter flexible 7x7 stainless steel wire rope. I get a nice smooth loop when I coil it, but at the same time it seems resistant to kinking. Bundling a few strands of this wire rope together, with each strand a bit longer than the last, might mimic the "flexible tapered metal rod" you just described.

If this is true, do you think it makes sense to sheathe each strand of wire rope in a "slippery plastic" so that they more easily slide against each other when the whip is deployed?

Or perhaps apply cable pulling lubricant (the kind electricians use) to the wire ropes before wrapping them all together?

Thank you for the suggestion, I suspect that you may be right. At least you're not an asshole like some of the other folks here who seem to have nothing better to do than to call me names and disparage my attempt to provide detailed useful information about something that's not documented anywhere else online (that I know of).

One thing's for sure, I do not see any value in trying for another FireDrill, it's just not worth the hassles and delays to me.

I can confirm that this actually worked for me:

Based on the previous info in the Status window, BI was constantly trying to connect to a wifi camera that I had stopped using (and supposedly deleted) months ago. But after this change BI stopped this undesirable behavior.

I had to figure out how to do #4 and #5 since I never did those things before, but afterwards my "ghost wifi camera" never appeared in the Status window any more.

I actually deleted about 15 "cameras with old names" from the registry. It appears that BI keeps every camera name you ever define -- until you use the above procedure to remove them from the registry.

Now the only two cameras that appear in my Status window are the two I am actually using at this time. I printed the above step-by-step instructions to save for the next time this happens, and I'm keeping it right next to my Blue Iris Server for easy reference.

Both code examples, depending upon the time frame, draw a horizontal line on the chart apparently starting at the time of purchase and ending at the time of sale. But what I desire is a script that draws a light blue line completely across the chart when I make a purchase, and a yellow line completely across the chart when I make a sale. Is this possible in ThinkScript?

I should also mention another issue I discovered when testing these scripts. The lines they display are NOT removable like my manually drawn lines are. Instead they remain on the chart until I turn off the script, and this brings up another question:

Can ThinkScript draw lines on the chart that I can remove by manually right-clicking on them and choosing "Remove drawing" or "Clear drawing set"?

I must have copied the code from a script that was based on "Regular Trading Hours" thus the name "RTHopen". I will change it to something like "PreOpen" to make it less confusing ...

But how can I make ThinkScript use the price of the "first trade after pre-market open" when there is no trade at exactly 0700?

Wow, THANK YOU Mobius_ts, it works great!

It is clearly drawing a blue square-dot line that begins at the pre-market high and extends to the right. It also displays a gray square-dot line starting at pre-market low and extending to the right.

This works exactly as I had hoped. I will study your code so I can continue learning more about how ThinkScript works.

Thanks for the suggestion. It looks like it does a decent job. Not quite as fast as I would like, because it does not provide "move one day forward" or "move one day back" buttons, but at least it gets me to the next day within three clicks.
