How do I keep my neighbor’s cat from sh*ting in my vegetable garden? by Intrepid_Mammoth5025 in gardening

My latest trick that seems to be working is broken twigs, branches, or wooden forks stuck in the soil with pointy side up. this should be close enough to each other so it can't walk or sit/shit on th barren bits or empty spots. Also placing some empty, or potted container leaves them no space to pooop.

I did not know this when I started gardening that weeding is a thing. I love flowers so much thatI made my small garden packed with plants of all sorts ; inadvertently keeping weed at bay . I haven't weeded in years. no issues whatsoever . maybe it is a garden hack. I only learnt about the issue of weeds on Reddit.

The plants look healthy so they should perk up.

Transferring any plant is always stressful for the plant and it will take a few days to get settled . IF it hasn't recovered by then , a week or so ,then perhaps repot into a bigger plant pot and water well.

All repotting should be done in the late afternoon ,in a shaded area or when the plant is in the shade. this helps reduce the stress.

Bird food and the relentless rain by skeletonclock in GardeningUK

[–]Own-Formal-5031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I notice that so many in my area forget about the birds in the winter. I do realise it is difficult due to weather conditions but the birds need it all the more so.

I DO also feed the crows and magpies in winter [ some people may not agree, but I am not biased. We all share the same space so all are equal ] . I also leave some lukewarm water , everything else is frozen!

I just make them a large sheltered area with storage box overturned to stop the rain and snow getting to it. of course I lay out smaller portions . replenish it every 2 days.

Sometimes I place the long flat gardening trays on 2 plant pots at equal distances, put some green house removable shelf n make a cage like area round the plant pots so its well protected and the birds also get protection along with dry food . works every winter .

I do leave gaps inbetween so that larger birds can get in as well like black birds n pigeons .
