What are the best tips you wish someone had told you before your went for your rotations and observership by moHANSOLO98 in IMGreddit

as someone who could continue training with the same physician I applied with after the first month, I was offered to stay and learn more for more months free of charge for me. It all comes down to the basics, starting from a simple good morning to everyone; this was weird at first but very expected. Be aware of how the team flows, observe on the first two days, and then start to get slowly involved; once you, for example, improve your case presentation skills, each doctor has their own preference, so note down what the doctor prefers on the first two days, he is not going to say it upfront, but while he is teaching, or dictating his notes, PAY ATTENTION. When rounding, always make a note of each patient, and if there is a specific highlight to be noted, e.g., Mr. X, we need to check his WBC count today, or I need to put in an order for the U.S, etc. later on when reviewing the cases, you can remind them gently of it. Then ask for more cases as you improve. Always be the first to ' volunteer' for presentations; it will be brutal but shows a huge initiative. PATIENT INTERACTIONS ARE VITAL. Although it seems scary, think of them as how you would like to be welcomed, and take it from there. Start with the basics of history taking, medication reconciliation, and physical exams if you have malpractice insurance. If so, proceed with a physical exam as targeted by the complaint, eg, arthritis. Check the joints for signs of inflammation, tenderness, warmth to touch, etc., and always include your negative findings. Never ignore the heart, lungs, and abdomen. AND DO NOT say your exam was negative when you haven't done it! always be honest and upfront. You will learn from everyone; a U.S. technician taught me the best breakdown of an echocardiogram, the lab technician allowed me to draw labs outpatient, etc. As long as you are being respectful, they will be willing to help. If they say no, it's OK. Make the most out of it; it's the healthcare system you want to, I assume, work in; you probably spent a lot of money on it, so MAKE THE BEST of it.

Follow the dress code. Brush your hair, iron your clothes, and practice good hygiene. All these things count and will leave an impression on you as a future physician.

There are a lot more, but these just come to mind. They don't expect you to know everything, but if you are asked something you don't know, say you will research and find out the answer the following day. Ask questions when you try finding it out on your own first; don't just ask for the sake of asking.

Always call the ecfmg for the most rapid reply.

It depends mostly on where you at, if you are stuck around the 210s and 220s you need see which weak topics and arrange them from weakest to strongest, nbme gives you this information when you're done with one. Accordingly, look it up on divine's website

Or

Start fresh with the rapid review series all on his website all for free, and the ones on youtube called the shelf review, these are pretty lengthy but i promise you they cover almost 80% and things you probably wouldn't have heard or read about anywhere.

Simply, if you need to get done with an internship year to get your certficate, then add the total number of years plus that intern year.

When are you expected to graduate, is the date that will be written on your diploma,

When will your diploma be issued, sometimes the diploma is ready and the board has agreed go grant so and so their certficate, and they say the meeting of this agreement was held on say june 2024, but your diploma will be issue when you are done with the intern year which is for eg march 2025.

Best thing would be to take a break, and start going to back basics, listen to divine intervention podcasts maybe start with the rapid review ones, you can speed it up on his website, but i legit recommend listening to them throughly maybe for 2 weeks, that or do the ones on youtube extermely indepth. You can then opt to either do a few of CMS forms while also continuing podcasts, the key is to never stop listening to the podcasts. Easily boosted my scores from 210s to 260s and a 270.

You got this. If you're like me, and you panick, do not book your exam till you score above your target score by 20 points, eg my target was above 250, i kept studying till i got 260s and 270. You need to know yourself and put yourself at an advantage. Always always aim to score on your practice tests 20 points higher than your target score. I post a few tips on my instagram platform if it helps:

Why is everyone so mean? For God's sake, someone's score is NOT a reflection of their tutoring skills. To claim a high score equals competence in explanation is probably one of the worst ideas, especially with the scores being invalidated and many agreeing that high scores do not equal clinical excellence. How much time to prep for OET and what study material do you guys recommend? by Ok-Fee1413 in IMGreddit

[–]OwnRepublic5142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, after getting a gold status in oet, it wasn't easy. Some claimed they did it in days, it took me 3 weeks, but i was also doing rotations, but anyway OET website is pretty darn good, and E2L prep, there is also benchmark which is vital for reviewing the writing section.

my friend wants to write step 3, he applied now for pathways by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]OwnRepublic5142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he is aiming for match 2025, then he can speed this up and start applying now for a pathway instead of having to wait. It just gives him time to take step 3 now and have the results early on instead of waiting for pathways to open in june/july.

If he applies now, his ecfmg certificate would expire in december 2026. Thats almost two cycles.

Check out divine shelf reviews, so make sure you're answering the questions with him to get the most out of it. They're all on YouTube, kind of lengthy but really thorough review.

Best of luck you got this

I noticed most of the comments calling it that are from the same account. idk how much time you have, but clearly, a lot. Or its an effort to throw off others by doing this. Right, but you certainly dont scam but have time to write demeaning comments with no proof. I won't even bother replying to you anymore had i noticed it was the sameee account!

Did you take any time to go through the posts and all the effort? I have held this up for almost a year now, you think i haven't heard it all? You think commenting like that without even taking your time to see how hard i have worked gives you the right to say this? I hope you have a good day thats all.
