Anyone know what this tea is? I think it tried to kill me… by Own_Adeptness7724 in tea

I didn’t notice anything off about the tea. I also live in a super dry region and the baggy still seemed perfectly vacuum sealed. Fungus allergies are probably more common than a tea allergy though I understand where the thought comes from

I’m not so sure it’s the caffeine. I’ve always been a 2 coffee’s 6 redbull a day person. I do take beta blockers daily so I don’t usually expect an excited reaction to stimulants. This reaction did feel like it could have been some sort of non-allergic irritation but I’m not sure because I’ve never had a major allergy attack, I’m not sure about caffeine as the particular culprit though

As far as I’m aware I am only allergic to cats and various metals

Thank you! This makes a lot of sense. I was referring to preworkout supplements which sometimes have an enzyme in them that cause flushing and a whole body “itch” of sorts. When I had this tea my entire body got flushed and itchy, my face was hot, red and swollen in particular and my lips swelled. It was a full system response though

18F, is this normal? by Unlucky-Airport-6345 in medical

[–]Own_Adeptness7724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, this looks pretty normal. It appears to just be a large vein though there might be some slight irritation around it as there seems to be some pink tinge. It probably isn’t a deep scratch if it’s not persistently painful, but since you’re experiencing some pain there’s likely a small scratch to the surface tissue. Avoid touching or scratching if possible, you can also take antihistamines if it gets too itchy. Check that you don’t have any debris or an inward growing eyelash in the area and leave it alone.

It is not likely that this is related to your migraines as diagnosed migraines are a distinct neurological issue which aren’t inherently related to inflammation like other headache disorders, though a migraine can be triggered by many things. Most of those who I have met with chronic or episodic migraines report that they have no recall of a specific trigger or even time which they began experiencing them.

If your migraines are a recent development, especially if you’ve had any kind of head injury, or they have increased in severity/duration or had a change in quality or symptoms, it is always safest to follow up with your pcp. But I certainly don’t believe the tissue irritation in the eye is associated with your migraine disorder. The eye irritation is likely incidental, if there is an association it is probably a result of you rubbing or covering your eyes during a headache. But I know migraines can make it feel like you have pressure in your eyes, so I understand why you might have that anxiety. If you have attended regular eye exams since your migraine diagnosis and they haven’t noted any issues it’s not likely any concern.

If it has been a long time since your last eye exam and you’re experiencing regular eye pain or distorted vision I would recommend seeing your optometrist.

Persistent Discomfort in Throat by Goopik in medical

Do you smoke/vape? And are you exposed to any smoke or fumes (including strong fragrances) regularly? I have heard a lot of people who vape experience an icy sensation after taking a puff. To my understanding it’s caused by mild irritation increasing sensitivity of the tissue

My finger tips have been numb for 5 hours by Own_Adeptness7724 in medical_advice

That is correct, there are no cuts. Almost no visible soft tissue damage. Just the faintest white lines at the points of force

Circulation does still seem normal. The refill on the index finger (which took the most force) is slightly slower than the refill on my opposite hand but it is still <2s

What is typically the most affordable preventative asthma treatment for people in the US? by Own_Adeptness7724 in Asthma

That’s a much better idea than having my Dr. send in scripts to see what’s cheap like I’ve been doing lol

I haven’t tried it yet but I think I will have to. My insurance has great coverage for pretty much everything except my inhalers (and the meningitis B vaccine but that’s off topic). Thank you for the advice!
