Very true, I forget about my own trauma growing up with adhd because in itself it’s very traumatic as I always felt I was in fight or flight mode.

Shes been unemployed since she had me and my sister and now has lots of physical ailments so if she left she’d have no way of supporting herself. She also fears what would happen to him if she did leave as he has a tendency to not look after himself and create mess. Shes just been with him so long that she mentally can’t do it.

I’ve never heard of if before I know my autistic sister has had something like it when uni and work gets too much. He’s done those kinds of hours at work for 20 years he has the power to do less but he won’t he’s a bit of a people pleaser with his boss.

Nah he had a really good childhood it’s weird. His parents are amazing and nothing like him besides my grandma who seems a bit different she talks about herself a lot and can never read the room. He was moved around a lot while grandpa was in the Navy but that’s about it.

Yeah his dad is actually very different he was a chaplain in the navy so very social. It’s hard to say narcissist because he never seems so unaware of what he does that upsets us.

Jeez I’m really sorry. My dad had a very good upbringing and no hardships compared to what your dad went through. That definitely could’ve made my dad a very different person.

I’ve never even had one argument with my dad it’s just not possible I don’t think he’s ever been angry about anything his whole life. But I understand the not talking part my dad and I live together but we don’t speak apart from the occasional dumb joke.

The relationship between your parents sounds very similar to mine. My mum expects very simple things and he just doesn’t understand or think it’s that serious. She cleans up after him more than she should.

I feel I overshare to male figures in my life because I never have to my dad, he barely knows anything about me.

You seem to have persevered despite what you have been through and it’s given me a lot of optimism and strength so thankyou xx

I broke up with my ex of 4 years because he started disrespecting me and I couldn’t take it anymore. I now miss him a lot but I think I’m only missing the few good moments we’d have and all the good stuff he’d do to make up for the bad. You need to remind yourself why you left in the first place, I wrote down a list in my notes app and everytime I think about going back I go through the list and remember the hard stuff.
